a presentation that blurs the lines between aqualitine (link), ineffaline (link), autonine (link), and maverine (link)! this could be a mix of the four, not being able to tell the difference between them, etc.
The color palette was random, no real thought process behind that, but when I was choosing the name for this term, I decided I wanted something gemstone-related. Fire agate happened to fit the colors I already had best, but I found out some fun facts about it while I was looking into this gem! The colors of any individual fire agate are extremely unique. Lapidaries can't really use emerald, oval, pear, or other standard cuts you see most often, because that would diminish the unique colorations of each stone. Each one has to be carefully carved and polished to highlight the extraordinary flashes of fiery color. It's really cool, and I thought it fit very well with the qualities this term encompasses. I do kinda wish I found an icon with a more rounded cut gem, but I gotta be honest, I got lazy and just chose the one I liked best 🙃

I did not see a flag for ineffaline anywhere, so I made one!
Ineffaline is a quality that defies categorization or that can't be categorized. I decided to try and use colors not typically seen in pride flags and that don't have typical gendered associations, with a sort of desaturated look to them (another thing you don't see in most flags.) The colors otherwise don't have any meanings. The vertical format makes it stand out.
An ineffaline gender is a gender that defies all forms of classification. Any label or attempt to classify the gender with human language will be rejected. An ineffaline gender will say "no, I'm not masc, fem, or neutral" and "no, I'm not atriary either" and "no I'm not xenic or outherine" and it will continue like this. An ineffaline gender in not masculine, feminine, neutral, outherine, xenic, or anything related to any of them. It is also not related to any terms that may be coined in the future. For as long as people come up with new terms an ineffaline gender will reject those terms. It is not necessarily because the person who possesses the gender is questioning or doesn't understand their gender. An ineffaline person can be strongly gendered, and fully confident in their gender, but all labels or descriptions that exist don't seem to fit.
Basically, ineffaline is the "everything else" category. If you are not ineffaline, that means, by definition, you must identify with an existing gender term.
Ineffaline is a description of gender (in the same way masculine, feminine, androgynous, outherine, etc, are used) It's based on the word ineffable. The adverb form is ineffity or ineffalinity.Â
Admittedly, due to the definition of ineffaline, and ineffaline person is probably going to reject the label of ineffaline on principle, so I don't know how useful with term actually is.
