1) life is always hanging in the balance, you never know how close to death, and although some may see this as representing death, which in a way it does, what is life without death?? Constantly teetering, something can move you closer to death or further from it. Could have been made clearer with use of inverted colour, 'life' symbolised by the circle could have been lighter with the background being darker instead. Dark colours tend to been connotated more ominously.
2) renaissance, birth, egg, fresh, how ever you want to look at it, those ^ words represent life in one way or another.
3) cycle or rebirth, or, samsara.
