TUPÃ

Até aqui apenas escrevi sobre a mitologia afro-brasileira. Tupã é o primeiro deus, verdadeiramente brasileiro, que escreverei sobre, por ele ser da mitologia indígena brasileira.

É o mais conhecido de todos, tantos entre a maioria das tribos que o cultuavam quanto pelos brasileiros atualmente.

Isso se deve por ter sido escolhido como o deus referência ao deus cristãos dos jesuítas que chegaram na colônia portuguesa para catequisar os índios.

Ele é o principal e maior deus da religião indígena.

Praticamente criador de quase tudo. Céu, terra, água. Ensinou aos índios a agricultura e o artesanato.

Sua morada é o céu, e sua manifestação é o trovão (raios).

Mas não creio que seja realmente versões desses deuses. Afinal, quando o homem não entendia o mundo a sua volta, ele criou deuses para explicar e entender.

Tupã, apesar de ser o deus que trouxe o conhecimento para a humanidade, ele é antes de tudo um deus temido. Que não pensa duas vezes em liberar sua fúria aos homens, via tempestades e raios.

No Brasil há um debate entre religiosos e seculares.

ONGs, até mesmo internacionais, vêm adentrando as florestas brasileiras com a missão de converter os índios.

Bem provável que a religião desapareça em breve e vire mera mitologia.

O problema nisso tudo não é nem mesmo a conversão dos índios ao cristianismo.

Com a conversão, os pajés vêm perdendo poder e prestígio. Pajé é o líder espiritual de uma aldeia.

Com ele o conhecimento dos remédios da mata.

O idioma original da aldeia com o desaparecimento total das orações e cantigas.

Será bom para o índio?

Não sei.

Mas com certeza o Brasil ficará muito mais pobre na sua cultura.

So far I've only written about Afro-Brazilian mythology. Tupã is the first god, truly Brazilian, that I will write about, because he is from Brazilian indigenous mythology.

He is the best known of all, as many among the tribes that worshiped him as by Brazilians today.

This is due to having been chosen as the reference god to the Christian god of the Jesuits who arrived in the Portuguese colony to catechin the Indians.

He is the main and greatest god of the indigenous religion.

Practically the creator of almost everything. Heaven, earth, water. He taught the Indians agriculture and crafts.

Its abode is heaven, and its manifestation is thunder (rays).

But I don't think it's really versions of these gods. After all, when man did not understand the world around him, he created gods to explain and understand.

Tupã, despite being the god who brought knowledge to mankind, he is first and foremost a feared god. Who doesn't think twice about releasing his fury to men, he saw storms and lightning.

In Brazil there is a debate between religious and secular.

NGOs, even international, have been entering brazilian forests with the mission of converting the Indians.

With conversion, shamans have been losing power and prestige. Shaman is the spiritual leader of a village.

Will it be good for the Indian?

I don't know, i don't know

But Brazil will certainly be much poorer in its culture.
