To be fair, I don't think David would've cheated on his wife. Especially since his wife was the sister of Jonathan. Would've caused too much drama. This isn't Bravo.

Dex kicks his ankle. “You’re staring.”

“You’re staring,” Chowder says automatically, then catches up to himself. “I mean. What?”

Dex rolls his eyes, leaning back in his chair and following Chowder’s gaze, which has already started drifting back to the living room. On the floor next to the couch, sprawled on his stomach and just visible from where they’re sitting in the kitchen, Nursey turns a page in his book, pulls the pen out from where he’s been holding it in his teeth, scribbles something in the margin, and goes back to reading. There’s a strip of skin showing on his lower back where his t-shirt has ridden up. It looks very, very soft, and Chowder knows, from intimate experience, that it is.

“He’s not even doing anything,” Dex says, after a minute.

Chowder deliberately ignores the heat in his cheeks. “He doesn’t have to be doing anything,” he says. He punches out another line of Java script. “Sometimes I just. I don’t know. Like to look at him.”

Dex makes a face. “I don’t think that’s technically fineable,” he says. “But like. I really think it should be.”

Chowder glances back into the living room. Nursey’s rolled over onto his back, long legs sprawled out, skinny jeans hugging every muscle. He’s still holding the pen in his mouth, and, as Chowder watches, he lets one knee splay out to one side, denim pulling tight over his groin. 

“You know what?” He reaches into his back pocket, pulls out his wallet, and shoves it at Dex. “Fine away.” 

Ignoring Dex’s snort of laughter, he pushes his chair back, heads into the living room, and drops himself down into Nursey’s lap. “Hi,” he says.

Nursey pulls out one earbud, grinning up at him. “Hey,” he says. He puts his book down and curls his hands over Chowder’s hips. “Sup, babe?”

“Nothing,” Chowder says. The afternoon light coming through the window highlights the flecks of gold in Nursey’s eyes. It’s unfairly attractive. “Just paid a bunch of fines in advance.”

Nursey cocks an eyebrow. “Yeah? What’d you get fined for?”
