James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause
Director Nicholas Ray actually played Jim’s father while rehearsing crucial scenes. They improvised, using Ray’s bungalow at the Chateau Marmont. At one point, Jimmy let himself in through the kitchen door, and in a now classic gesture, rolled a cold milk bottle over his forehead.
