Because like I JUST REALISED WHAT IT MEANS…
While Arthur was dying, the blade was CUTTING THROUGH HIS HEART! THAT’S WHAT KILLED HIM IN THE END!!!
HIS HEART WOULD HAVE BEEN CUT IN HALF OR SOMETHING!!!!
HIS HEART LITERALLY BROKE!
HE DIED WITH A BROKEN HEART!
Let me just repeat that, for my own sanity…..
Arthur died with. a. broken. heart.
So, I’m just gonna put it out there that, while Arthur was dying in Merlin’s arms, he was dying from his heart literally breaking, while his heart figuratively breaks because he never got his chance with Merlin and they both realised it way too late….
