went with ayaka! reminder these are not full fics but just small-ish drabbles!
Uncomfortable and sweating, Ayaka paced around the halls of the estate, waiting for time and nausea to pass.
Whatever it was that was making her stomach feel like it was imploding, it couldn’t stop her from attending this meeting.
She held onto the wall as she felt her stomach cramp, a burp creeping up her throat. She put her fist to her mouth, closing her eyes, cheeks turning red as she let it out.
“Uh…”, she groaned, moving her hand down from her mouth to her gurgling stomach, feeling it twitch and rumble under her touch.
Another burp, more wet this time and she groaned again, the bitter taste of bile and her dinner sitting at the back of her tongue.
“Milady?”, she heard and her eyes widened, “Are you feeling ill?”
She swallowed thickly before facing her retainer, face red with shame. He had definitely heard her burp just now.
“Ah, Thoma..”, she whispered, “I am fine. My stomach is just acting up a bit..”
Thoma sighed and gave her a sad smile. He knew Ayaka would never admit to being sick, much like him, she would always try to hide it and power through it.
“Forgive me for noting this, but… you don’t look well at all. Did you sleep?”
Ayaka shook her head, her stomach gurgling loudly and she flinched.
“Ow… ow…”, she mumbled and Thoma was immediately by her side, worry clear on his face. He had one arm around her shoulder.
“Milady?”, he asked softly.
Ayaka covered her face in shame, embarrassed to be in Thomas embrace like this.
“You need to rest.”, he said.
“I am fine, I need to be present at the meeting.”, she sighed, her voice shaking.
She was aware she wouldn’t be able to represent the kamisato family well, she felt awful, stomach cramping horribly and waves of nausea washing over her. And it upset her, it upset her to be in this weak state, to let everyone down like this when she knew she shouldn’t.
A few tears escaped her eyes and Thoma gasped softly, thumb brushing over Ayakas shoulder.
“It’s alright.. it’s alright.”, he said, “We will postpone the meeting, you’re unwell and it would be irresponsible to have you walk to Inazuma City in this condition.”
Ayaka didn’t answer, she knew Thoma was right, she couldn’t possibly be professional like this.
Her chest felt tight, she was so upset, so mad at herself.
She sobbed and Thoma pulled her into a softer, full embrace, her head on his shoulder as she cried miserably.
“sshhh, sshh, it’s okay..”, he whispered, his fingers running over her sweaty back.
He softly placed a kiss on her head, whispering some more soothing words into her hair.
Intimacy wasn’t common practice in the Kamisato household, but every now and then, Thoma knew when it was needed.
Whether it was holding a crying Ayaka and kissing her hair or having an exhausted, upset Ayato lean on him and caress his thigh, he was happy to provide.
But as Ayaka moved uncomfortably in his arms, he knew he had to let her go.
“Are you okay, milady?”, he asked carefully and Ayaka shook her head, a hiccup shaking her body.
She covered her mouth, a burp escaping her and her other hand going down to clutch her stomach.
“Are you going to be sick?”, Thoma asked, quickly grabbing Ayaka by the shoulders to lead her into the bathroom.
She nodded and burped again, a bit of drool dripping out from her hands, her face bright red as she let Thoma let her to the nearest toilet.
“Carefully… sit down, I got you.”, Thoma assured, putting up the lid and seat of the toilet, softly pushing Ayaka down onto the floor, in a sitting position.
“I’m really sorry…”, Ayaka whispered, nausea weighing heavily on her voice. “I’m—“
“Don’t apologize for being ill.”, Thoma said, gathering her blue hair and holding it up as Ayaka hiccuped and burped into the toilet, a string of drool dripping into the water.
Her shoulders jerked with a gag and she coughed harshly, a small splash of water and bile leaving her lips, a burning sensation on the back of her tongue.
“Ow—“, she whimpered, one hand clutching her stomach again before she burped wetly, a torrent of liquid spilling from her lips, hitting the water with a loud splash.
A hollow, breathless burp and she vomited again, stomach contracting harshly as Thoma rubbed her back.
“Oh my…”, he mumbled, “How long have you been holding that in?”
Ayaka let out another gurgly burp, vomit audibly gurgling up her throat before it splashed out of her, two strings of watery puke and snot practically exploding from her nostrils.
She coughed harshly, another final burp bringing up the last, small wave of water, bile and tiny bit of rice she had forced down this morning.
The slimy mixture trickled down her chin, as she silently cried, tired and embarrassed.
She heard Thoma sigh behind her, not in disgust or disappointment, but rather in sympathy.
He continued rubbing her back as she stared into the murky water, sniffling and crying.
“It’s okay, Milady..”, he sighed, reaching for the toilet paper and handing it to Ayaka, so she could wipe her nose and mouth.
“Can you stand up for me?”, he asked gently, “let’s get you to bed and rest.”
