For the CR playlist! "Waves" by Bahamas is so very Fjord, in my mind. "I Came Around" by Murder by Death reminds me of Scanlan. "Country of the Future" by Mirah for Molly and the M9... "Taxicab Messiah" by Kidneythieves for Jester? (Kinda intense!) And "Each Time I Die" for the group's transition between campaigns, maybe. Well. Thanks for doing this -- I love experiencing story in song, and I look forward to seeing the whole playlist and reading about it in that post! You're great! :)
Iām glad you enjoy it! Iām a little worried Iām just spamming the CR tag, haha :D
Waves is a lovely song, and I definitely see Fjord in it, with the references to being the āocean's slaveā and the waves becomingĀ āout of hand,ā which is sort of where we are now with Ukāotoa.Ā
This verse I Came Around reminds me a lot of the e85 Scanlan argument:
āWhen you've walked through the valley/Ā Saw the face of death/Ā And you've paid your debts/Ā Well then, is there anything left/Ā Is there anything left?ā
The sort of idea ofĀ āI died and now everythingās different.ā But thenĀ āI came aroundā is sort of Scanlan finding himself and re-joining VM.
Country of the Future is so good for Molly. The references to the carnival and being too far away. This verse reminds me of Molly, dead, looking down at M9 on the Mystake:
āAnd if you need some part of me/Ā When you're alone there by the sea/Ā I'll sing you this message through the shell/Ā That you press to your cheekā
I love Taxicab Messiah as a very different commentary on the Traveler and his relationship with Jester:
āMy god loved the whores and babies/Ā my god never noticed a sin/Ā my god grew and killed the daisies/Ā my god threw the towel in/Ā My god is weird, my god is scared/Ā my god paints a pretty picture of fearā
I YouTubed āEach Time I Dieā and it came up with a bunch of different results ā which one did you mean? Sorry!!
Come yell at me about the songs that remind you of Critical Role! Iām making a giant playlist! (Song masterpost | CR music tag)
