One time when I was in junior high I got super sick (strep throat) but I was stuck at a friend’s house instead of at home because my friend’s parents were watching me while my mom was out of town. And my friend and her parents were super busy so while they tried to help me they werent there much and I was just. miserably sick.Â
But my friend’s little sister wasn’t super busy. And she spent like three days playing absurd amounts of a harry potter computer game so i could watch her play and have a little bit more fun and...
Like this was like 15 years ago and she probably doesnt really remember it besides maybe like “that time gabe stayed with us and was ridiculously sick the whole time” or maybe as “that one time [she] got away with playing computer games for like three days straight even though that’s something [her] parents would normally never allow.”
But she also knew how much I loved Harry Potter, and she noticed that I had fun watching her play it a little the day before and maybe the motivations were selfish but it was still so kind and I’m still so thankful
explain radiation poisoning to me [iwi]
theres like a lot of reasons for uhhh why it happened but symptoms are based on how much radiation you absorbed and what it does basically is just kinda [redacts] everything
but symptons usually are: nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, headache, fever, dizziness and disorientation, weakness and fatigue, hair loss, bloody vomit and stools from internal bleeding, infections, low blood pressure
My stomach no longer hurts, I have healed and overcome.
liver update??
so for those who didnt know my enzymes are elevated, we found out through blood work. i have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and have been diagnosed with that since i was 9. your liver levels should be 30-60, when i was diagnosed mine were 450-500. THATS BAD. anyways i was able to get the numbers under control for awhile (a decade) but recently they are elevated again. Currently my numbers are 150. GRANTED, that is not nearly as bad as it was when i was 9. Regardless, any elevation is alarming. My meds haven't changed, and im actually exercising and eating clean. so this is very discouraging.Â
I spent a few hours at the doctors today, we talked a little about my lab work results, and she ordered an ultrasound - they saw something, but aren’t quite sure what. possibly a stone(?) in between the tube that connects the liver and pancreas. I haven't officially heard back from my Dr yet but she told me she would get back to me today.Â
After the ultrasound, I had blood work to rule out HEP A&B (and C) but any type of illness related to unsafe sex/needle usage I can rule out by the fact i do not have sex (i’ve never had sex) and i am not around needles, don’t use needles etc (not even tattoos), but we are checking to be thorough.Â
Now im waiting for a phone call. When the ultrasound lady found the possible stone she left me in the room to get an actual doctor so for a good 5 mins i was terrified something was REALLY wrong - the radiologist then explained to me that because (? something) isnt dilated, it might not even be a stone? its a bit confusing. im calling it a stone because that’s what it looked like to them. but anyways, due to the uncertainty, the radiologist told me he would recommend to my primary care i get the CT scan to be sure.Â
AH.. im a bit ..mad at my body. I just recently got my shit together and have been making such healthy strides and this is how you’re going to repay me? :(Â
stay tuned folks. ! also i’m posting this exact same thing on my other blog so i apologize to those who follow both my blogs see this twice.Â

A Thought:
A few weeks after school starts, Donald comes down with a stomach bug. Nothing major, just the kind of virus that hangs around schools and attaches itself to those with weakened immune systems (was I the only one who got this sort of crap on a regular basis?) but because he’s still sickly and his immune system is still a mess from years of neglect and malnutrition, it hits him hard and he’s vomiting more than his tiny body should even be able to vomit, he can’t even keep down water or Gatorade, and Gin and Toni aren’t willing to take any risks so they load him in the car and Toni holds him (with a basin in his arms so he doesn’t puke all over Gin’s car, though Gin repeatedly reassures him that they won’t be upset, they can get the car cleaned, it’s not a problem at all) while Gin drives to the ER, and he ends up spending the night in the hospital on an IV to keep him hydrated and keep up his electrolyte balance.
And then when they bring him home the next day Gin and Toni keep him home from school, and Gin brings him Gatorade and chamomile tea and spoon-feeds him broth with those little salty soup nuts and puts cool cloths on his forehead.
And then, when Donald’s all better, he goes back to school and when Dinesh sees him in the hall he hugs him as tight as he can and says “I was so worried about you, I thought I’d never see you again” and for the first time during this whole situation Donald just bursts into tears right in the middle of the hallway because he has never had friends who worried about him like this.
>It’s been long enough, you think, that you can go and apologize to Sydnee, and ask if she can give you something for the headache you still have. Hopefully she’s not too upset.
>You’re still dizzy, so you scrape along the wall to get there, misaligning some paintings and lurching more than walking. Where is her office? Is she still here? You blink a few times, and ask a guard who’s stopped in front of you.
“Where’s the docterror?” Your head spins. “Where–” Your horn clangs against his shoulderpad as you double over, heaving stomach acid and breaking into a sweat. “No blood.” Your eyes are closed, but you hope you’re right. “Sydnee.”
>Pain radiates from your horn like peals from a bell, down your back, and something trickles into your hair. Then, your head hits the floor and you feel nothing, but the distant sensations of movement, like a car drifting despite turning the wheel.
>You’ll wake up submerged in slime, with your gills carefully bound closed and your chipped horn wrapped back together with chitin tape and gauze, mostly fine. The antiseptic smell will make your head hurt worse, but you’ll live. Tyrians are damn hard to kill, and your doctor works damn hard.
>It might be a good idea to tell at least one of the people who care about you about this, if the way Sydnee is fretting and pacing like she does is any sign. It won’t be long until she agrees to bedrest, once the blood tests come back clear. You may have burned off the poison, but it still made you sick.
“Your horn didn’t break through, but it’s not great. Your kidneys are fine, for now. You’ll regenerate in a few nights like usual, but I’m gonna keep you on this antitoxin until all the traces are gone just to be safe.” She puts her file down, frowning. Her eyes look rubbed, the neat, professional eyeliner smeared. “I’m so sorry, Clorad. I keep telling you I’m not just your friend now that we’re here, but I let this slide without followup tests because I am your friend.”
>You try to sit up and she pushes you down. “It’s not your fault. I’m an idiot. You always say so.” Your mouth tastes bad. “I don’t take it seriously. It’s why my moirail gets upset with me. Because I could die, right? I’m not immortal.” Your fins twitch when she laughs.
“I can’t hold it against you. Remember on DX-990?” She sits on the edge of your bed and you notice, uncomfortably, that she’s aging so much faster than you. “We had to pretend it didn’t matter when someone died, because they did so often. You just have to stop doing that. It matters if you die, Clorad. Not politically, but to me. To your matesprit and moirail and your friends.” Her voice cracks, and she doesn’t push you down when you hug her. “I didn’t keep you alive just so you could give up when things got good, idiot.”
“I’m sorry.” You breathe, holding her as gently as you can, your oldest friend. “I’m sorry.”
Technically scarlet fever is strep throat but like,, it's not
