Headcanon: Orion Pax and his illegal library
Hear me out!
Orion Pax in the aligned continuity running his own sort of illegal library/information hub to make knowledge accessible to everyone. He distributes information widely and for free for the sake of having an informed populace (much to the distaste of the senate).
Things like banned books are made available including writings and recordings that speak against the status quo like writings from Megatron and other free thinkers along with accurate articles, textbooks, and historical records that would otherwise be held out of reach.
Keeping the public uneducated is a common tactic to having and maintaining power. Exodus basically implies that the Cybertron power imbalance is maintained partly with this method. (what with archivists having to report people who want to create rebellions or critique their societal circumstances)
Oh no/s Orion keeps on overriding the encryption codes, making illegal and untraceable copies, and distributing them on a mass basis. This will allow cybertronians to learn and study beyond the limitations set by their assigned roles!
Orion Pax wouldn't be well known as the name behind it though because he's smart and good at covering his tracks. By the time the revolt is happening and his identity does get out, there are so many other things going on that it's kinda drowned out. Megatron relies on this knowledge not being widely known to alienate as many Cybertronians as he can to Optimus Prime. It doesn't help that Optimus isn't the type to talk about his achievements for fear of bragging so his massive role remains vastly unrecognized.
LISTEN he's shown he's proficient at decoding the iacon database so....Optimus is good at pirating and distributing dvd's, textbooks, lectures, etc and no one can change my mind.
