I feel like people tend to forget/do not know how friendships in collectivistic societies work. They are very touchy and close and definitely something more individualistic societies see as romantic.
It always confuses me when people use people hugging and/or calling eachother cute as indication that a ship is canon. Can you use it to explain why you ship? Yes absolutely. Is it canon? No, not really. Thats just how collectivistic friendships can be. I cuddle with my friends, ive called my friends cute/been called 'cute' and 'babe' by friends, we still wouldnt dream of dating eachother. Its just how things are sometimes.
Its fine if you ship them, but I personally never could, just cause of how ive grown up and what ive seen. Its easy to take things from an individualistic lens, but most eastern places are collectivistic and follow collectivistic norms.
