Mindanao – August 2
I don't think I could ever get over the breathtaking views whenever we'd drive around mountains in Mindanao. It really makes me wonder why it took me so long to finally get up and explore my own country, because it's beautiful!
Anyway, after our very short visit, the Ignacios from Malaybalay (tito Andres, tita Ching + kids) took us to the del Monte Golf Course & Country Club so we could meet up with the Ignacios from CDO. We were there by ourselves for a while, so Kiks decided to catch up on some illustration work he had to do. In the meantime, I kept myself occupied by taking pictures.
Notice how his facial hair is starting to grow out? I always make a big deal out of it whenever he forgets to/doesn't shave because I don't like it on him. I just feel that it doesn't suit him, and it's itchy when he kisses me! Hahaha shallow, yes. So this time, I decided to make fun...
...by drawing what he would look like if he grew out his facial hair. I said that it was patchy and uneven in a lot of places, and decided to draw it for him. We had a good laugh about it!
My name on the left is there because his cousins and I wrote our names in cursive on some pieces of paper while they were with us for a short while. Nobody seemed to like writing in cursive except for me! They seemed to find it especially difficult, but I find it almost therapeutic. Haha! Go figure.
We were there for quite a while. Kiks decided to take a break from working and decided to take my camera from me.
...things got weird.
Anyway, a little while later, it was back to work.
Back in Malaybalay, his little girl cousins were into making loom bands, and I decided to try it out—mostly because I saw one that belonged one of their older brothers with a "style" that was different from the usual loom bands, and I figured I could do it too. I eventually made one for Kiks that night, and afterwards ended my looming career. LOL
It's crazy how loom bands are everywhere.
Eventually, the CDO Ignacios came, we had lunch, and we made our way to Dahilayan Adventure Park! It's this beautiful place where you have to drive past the del Monte pineapple plantation (amazing, too! You need to see it for yourself!) to get there. It was nice and cool here, being up in the mountains.
And Dahilayan is indeed full of adventure—there were lots of fun activities to do. This place houses the longest dual zip line in Asia, which of course I just had to try! I didn't take my camera or phone with me for fear of having it fall into the forest below, but it was excellent! The view was amazing, and it actually felt very calming to be "flying" through the trees and breathing in that fresh mountain air.
Our rooms were a bit of a walk away from all the attractions, but I didn't mind one bit—with a view like this, how could I not like walking?
In one of the areas of the park were these adorable golden retrievers!! I squealed at the sight of them. My favorite one was the dog named Panini, as she was especially affectionate. I suddenly felt kind of bad for them, thinking how they were just tied up all day, with their food just scattered there in their tiny houses, not even in a little dish. It broke my heart even more when it rained that afternoon, and I saw them just curled up in their little houses. I just hope that they're let loose or taken for walks regularly when the park is closed. Panini seemed to love having humans come up to her and pet her, and she'd rub her head against my leg.
If I were to get a big dog, it'd be a golden retriever!
The three handsome boys I shared a room with, and spent the entire afternoon with! I really can't believe that these boys are both under 17, and yet so freaking tall!
Luge racing!
...right before it poured after our first round. We never got to go for our second round because the rain wouldn't stop, and it was really pouring!
It was almost like a scene from Jurassic Park. I was half expecting to hear dinosaur roars, or thundering footsteps of a nearby tyrannosaurus.
We eventually managed to escape isolation in the luge area, and were rescued by tito Jaime. We later had dinner (best steaks ever!), and being the only guests in that particular restaurant in Dahilayan, we somehow urged Kiks & Leano to "sing for their supper", haha! Nico was a little shy (and so was I, LOL) so we just sat and cheered and ate strawberries!
