One thing I suppose I'm a little wary of is that I think I'll like TOX, but how easy would it be to play without getting TOX2?  And two games seems like a lot to invest in if I don't take to it....

the atelier games series (rorona, totori and meruru are the ones i have) are really cute and addictive jrpg/otomeish games and they are so fun!! u w u

I seem to vaguely remember trying out an Atelier game and playing, like, five minutes of it and not understanding how it worked--is there a fairly steep learning curve with them or was I just not deep enough into games yet to take to them at the time?

Suikoden 1, 2, 5 and the first half of 3 are really good (JRPGs). Suikoden 2 is amazing, even with its wonky translation. The fandom isn’t thriving too much right now though…

I think I tried... 4, maybe?  But IIRC that was the one that everyone said OH GOD WHY WOULD YOU START WITH THAT ONE (to which I replied, "Because that's the one that was in at the shop to rent.") and I've only played Tierkreis otherwise, which everyone also says, "Yeah, that was a fun game, but it's nothing like the main Suikoden series."

strongly advocating for Fire Emblem because that is amazing. the storyline so far is really solid and the voice-acting is also really really nice. I got it during the digital download sale so it was ten dollars cheaper, but still worth the $40

It's the one I'm leaning towards the most , because I do like Fire Emblem games (those that I've played so far anyway) and it'd be nice to have more than just, like, two titles for my 3DS.  (Which are Mario Kart and... oh, one of the first Zelda games that came out for it, I forget the name now.  I AM TERRIBLE AT ZELDA GAMES, weeps.)

If you like other Fire Emblem games, Fire Emblem: Awakening is a very good addition to your collection. I would also recommend searching out and playing Xenosaga. Whilst I haven’t played it, I have heard very good things about Xenoblade Chronicles.

I've heard of both of them before, but I couldn't tell you anything about them! That's why I'm terrible at figuring these things out for myself, because I have bouts of being SUPER INTO games, so I read news sites or reviews or look around to see what looks interesting, and so I've heard of a lot, but I have no idea what's actually good!

Kingdom Hearts? If you love final fantasy then kingdom hearts is for you! :D

I definitely enjoy Kingdom Hearts!  It's a little hard to keep up with it all, there are SO MANY REMAKES AND SIDE GAMES, to the point I just look at it and go, "I want to be a casual fan, not have to keep up with this Gordian Knot of a lineup...."  I may just wind up looking up "movie" versions on YouTube before KH3 comes out and go GOOD ENOUGH.  (I have at least played KH1 and KH2, though!  KH2 was actually the game that I credit with getting me hooked on actually playing games!)

Bravely Default for 3DS, definitely. The Kingdom Hearts series if you haven’t already. If FFVII interests you/you’ve played the original, consider some games from the Compilation. I highly recommend Crisis Core for PSP.

I've played half of Crisis Core!  I had a personal tragedy happen when I was in the middle of it and I just... was never able to get back into it again after that, every time I tried, I just kept dying or couldn't figure out where to go, and I fear I'd have to just start it all over again.  FFVII is one that I know the basic storyline (AC was what sucked me into the world of games in the first place) but I have trouble with older games, even as classic as FFVII!  *curious*  What's Bravely Default like then?

Oh, I have Ni no Kuni, too!  It looked soooooo pretty and I'm a sucker for that warm, Ghibli kind of style!  I just... need to sit down and play it.  orz  Same with actually just GETTING INTO DA:O, because I want to! Just that the gameplay has yet to click with me.  D:

The Kingdom Hearts games are loads of fun! You could start Dragon Age and ask for Inquisition (it’s coming out soon). The Last of Us is an AMAZING experience, but it’s action/survival horror (tho that’s selling it a bit short IMO) so YMMV.

Oh, man, I've heard endless praise for The Last of Us, but I was watching the beginning of an LP on YouTube and I couldn't go more than five-ten minutes without it hitting my motion sickness HARD and I honestly couldn't watch any longer.  I'm not sure if that was the player whipping the camera around or if it's the game, though?

Also with Inquisition come out soon, you can get it for Christmas than play through all the Dragon Age Games at once like Mass Effect

It's definitely tempting!  Though, I figure I should probably at least get significantly into DA:O before buying a game that's just come out.  XD I could do it with Mass Effect, because the trilogy was relatively inexpensive all together, but I'm pretty sure DA:I will be at least twice as much just for the one game!  XD

Reccettear An Item Shops Tale. Basically you run the item shop in an RPG world and you can sponsor adventurers to go dungeon diving for more rare items. Its really fun and cute.

Fire emblem awakening is worth it. Probably one of the best titles to come out for the 3ds.

I definitely want more 3DS titles, to feel like I didn't waste getting it, since I've played it so little!  Especially in comparison to the hours and HOURS I've spent on my DS....

The music, characters, and story are what really made me love Bravely Default ^-^ it’s a gorgeous game and really powerful, definitely some of Squeenix’s finest work!! The gameplay (mostly the menu screens) are a little complex as expected but fine!!

*curious*  How long is the game, generally, would you say?  And how steep is the learning curve for the gameplay?

I’m actually really happy that casual mode was introduced, though I still play like all of them can die. I love that you can make your own avatar and marry people and have children and so many class options!

Part of me thinks, NO, FIRE EMBLEM SHOULD BE BRUTAL, THAT'S HOW I STARTED, THAT'S HOW  YOU SHOULD ALL PLAY, SUFFER WITH ME, THAT IS THE POINT OF FIRE EMBLEM, but the rest of me is also pretty, "No, fuck that noise, I'm going for casual in my handheld games."  XD

Game you might like is Legends of Amalur. It’s got a good mix of sandbox gameplay but also a main quest you wanna finish and a whole lot of sidequests too
