When Sam Carter is handed the job of a lifetime, working for the Stargate program she is overjoyed and a little overwhelmed. Before reporting to training she meets and has a date with a charming and arguably very cute Air Force colonel, Jack O'Neill. Things get complicated when Jack finds out that his hand is being forced and he has to accept a new scientist, a civilian, to his team. His plan is to prove that person inept and tear them down to prove his point. But the person who shows up is none other than the woman he had a fabulous date with. But he has already set the ball rolling. He needs to get her kicked out of the program. Sam, on the other hand is more than ready to prove her worth. Their clash will be epic but the real question is who will survive the fallout.

When Jack gets envenomated by snake creatures whose venom can cause violent reactions to those infected, he does the unthinkable. He couldn't help it, but when it took over, he attacked. He attacked the one person he valued above all others in the world- well, all the worlds. Now their lives are in pieces. Sam cannot even be near him without having a terrible reaction and Jack is broken by it. Can they find a way back to each other?
