Yesterday was International Day of People with Disabilities! As an autistic person, I feel great solidarity within the disabled community. But we are often forgotten or left out of progressive movements - this is especially true for disabled people of color or queer disabled people. I ask those of you who aren’t disabled to remember us in your feminism. La Giornata internazionale delle persone con disabilità è stata proclamata nel 1981 con lo scopo di promuovere i diritti e il benessere dei disabili. Dopo decenni di lavoro delle Nazioni Unite, la Convenzione sui diritti delle persone con disabilità, adottata nel 2006, ha ulteriormente promosso i diritti e il benessere delle persone con disabilità, ribadendo il principio di uguaglianza e la necessità di garantire loro la piena ed effettiva partecipazione alla sfera politica, sociale, economica e culturale della società. La Convenzione invita gli Stati ad adottare le misure necessarie per identificare ed eliminare tutti quegli ostacoli che limitano il rispetto di questi diritti imprescindibili.
