G. Glad You Gave This Book A Chance
Startide Rising, by David Brin! I was really intrigued by the bookās summary, but the first several chapters were long and painfully dry and there didnāt seem to be much promise of reward. I stuck it out, and by the end was really rewarded with a delightfully odd balance of sci-fi space opera zaniness and genuinely interesting plot and characters. (The whole book was about a spaceship co-captained by intelligent dolphins, and something about an interstellar community that hated humanity because humanityā¦wasnāt created by some higher being? It all made sense in context.Ā But it was still a really interesting book, and Iām glad I stuck with it.)Ā
