Should you listen? (TW: S*icide)
(i dont know tumblrs rules for words like that lol)
This week i’m are taking abt Quadeca’s I Didn’t Mean to Haunt You (genre: alternative hip-hop, folktronica and bedroom pop)
IDMTHY is Quadecas 3rd studio album and holds a very special place in my heart. A concept album that explores dark themes including suicide and grief.
The album opens with Sorry4dying which sets up l how cinematic this album is sonically. Throughout the album you follow a ghost (Quadeca) in a purgatory-type place after commuting suicide. Quadeca (the ghost) has to watch others grieve and move on from his death while he wonders around.
Each song expresses something different; picking up hands (track 4) looks back to his childhood and quadecas regret for his an actions. Born Yesterday (the lead single and track 5) discusses quadeca having to watch his mother and family grieve his death.
I don’t want to do a summary of each song as I think listening to the album is worth more.
Production is also amazing with insane beats that feel both empty and full, emotional and soulful. The lyrics combined with the production and vocals to create a truly immersive experience.
Lyrics are something I didn’t touch much but they are truly heartbreaking and amazing.
ummm yeah this is quite brief and i’m sure no one cares but truly an amazing album!!
9.2/10
(sorry abt the grammar lol)
(remember, you are worth so much and people care; I care.)
I've been color-picking pride flags from one of my favorite albums ever, I Didn't Mean To Haunt You by Quadeca, for the past half hour. It is so fun, the colours are so fucking good and shout-out to the original artist bc the cover is gas
