it's kind of a shame that valarr dies off-page during the great targ culling of 209 because i think there'd be a lot to mine with valarr-dunk interactions and even with what little we have, their dynamic is super interesting. the prince who is never truly challenged versus dunk who is challenged non-stop everyday. dunk inspires baelor to stop resting on the laurels of the title of good man and to actually act and be one, and he does so in valarr's armour, and it kills him. did valarr spend the rest of his life wondering what would happen if he had taken baelor's place? would the thought of doing so even have crossed his mind before baelor took his armour?? would he have died for a hedge knight he didn't know?
