Hello everyone, long time no see! 🥰

Chapter 23 is nearly done, life got kinda heavy and I haven’t been writing as much! However, I do have some exciting(ish!) news to share!

After chapter 23, California Dreamin’ will be on hiatus until October 2026! Chapter 23 will be the last chapter of Vol I, and Vol II will commence in October! (I’m releasing chapters weekly in October, so the dates in the fic will match up with the dates in real life!)

I’m giving myself the whole of summer to get the entirety of Vol II written, so there isn’t such massive gaps between publishing chapters.

However, I do have some super cute Eddie x Nina summer themed chapter ideas I’d like to write which don’t necessarily fit in with the storyline so far but I thought they would be cute as little side stories? What are they called, mini fics? One shots? Ficlets? I’m not up to date with tumblr writers terminology haha (someone correct me please!)

Anyways, they’ll be added to the California Dreamin’ Navigation post at the bottom when they’re written.

Here’s a few of my ideas, comment below or send an ask on what you’d like to see Eddie and Nina get up to! (P.s yes they’re filthy)

- Eddie x Nina get into their first “argument” (Eddie forgets about date night) and Nina makes him regret it (romcom style, super fluffy, lots of filthy smut)

So for brief context, I'm currently watching Season 2 of Heaven Official's Blessings and in episode 3 I couldn't help but be touched by the discussion of Hua Cheng and Xie Lian on what is the difference between a house and a home and Xie Lian realizing that he hasn't had a home in a long time. And add to the somewhat parenting dynamics of Lang Ying and I couldn't help but think what if Hualian had a child after their marriage (I couldn't help myself I just had to know if they get a happy ending). Yes I will admit this is probably another self-insert OC because I couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to be Hualian's child.

Imagine a child who also has heterochromia in the same way Hua Cheng had and this child was so bullied not just because of the heterochromia but this child also can see and talk to ghosts and the otherworldly. So during ghost month this child was weeping somewhere near Xie Lian's shrine and asking anyone who would listen if there was something wrong with them (I'm using gender neutral pronouns for now because this is just a brain fart idea that needed to be released) and if they were bad because the bullying was so severe. And then Hua Cheng (in his real appearance) comforts the child and shares with them their story.

"You know I was also bullied because of my eyes."

"Really?"

"Yes, little one. It had gotten so bad that I thought life had no meaning anymore."

"What happened?" Hua Cheng gives a gentle smile at the child.

"Someone saved me."

"How?"

"He gave me something to live for."

The child calmed down and was now truly listening to Hua Cheng. And behind the child was Xie Lian sharing a knowing look and a smile with Hua Cheng.

"Would you like to meet him little one?"

1. A demon whose job is to tempt humans into sin X two priests who have self-preservation skills of a rock. Against all odds, the demon is the one who's keeping two priests alive and doesn't let them fall into sin.

2. A passionate employee of a facility that studies mythical creatures (harpies, sirens, etc) X 9ft naga who is very lonely and very cuddly. It is not clear if the said naga sees the employee as a pet, a friend, a snack or anything else.

3. The youngest member of the royal family X the demon prince. The church has the authority and the youngest human was supposed to leave the castle to devote their life to the church against their will. The youngest sibling was treated poorly by their family, so they ran away with the demon who showed them love for the first time.

4. The lust demon X the horror movies fan. The demon is the innocent and awkward one.

Just writing this post so that I can keep track of any future ideas. Which one I’ll work on first is honestly up in the air. So for now, these are what I have in mind.

Miko and Five mess around during their break, testing out her new abilities and eating power-ups. Hijinks occur. Prerequisite: Miko accidentally uses a power-up with funny effects.

Seeing that Miko is now a very important person, Phil assigns Mitch to watch over her alongside Five. Mitch, of course, hates the whole thing but starts to warm up to them in his own jerk-ass way. Also, the duo watch in awe as Mitch kicks butt.

Miko accidentally gets hit by a virus. While Bergy and Haneesh figure out an anti-virus, Five is left to watch Miko who acts really affectionate and weird. Prerequisite: How Miko got hit by the virus, and what the effects are to an extend.

- Visit the museum of death (or some similar place to do with death)

- Go to an unusual convention and or festival (I’m not saying a kink convention but I am also not opposed to it. more burning man, the fertility festival in japan, or something like day of the dead.)

- Ghost hunting / demon summoning (not drowning man part five)

- Go to one of those caves that is said to simulate the darkness of being dead in hell.

- various forms of divination / fortune telling (those can get pretty weird)

-hallucinate without drugs (ping-pong balls over eyes, white noise, mirrors in a dark room, ect)
