Maimouna works as a photographer, sculptor, video and installation artist in the Italian cities of Verona and Milan and regularly travels to Dakar, Senegal. Her work combines Afro-Asian themes and symbolism with the traditions of Western classical iconography. As a globally recognised artist, her work communicates the discomfort and beauty of cultural diversity and contemporary multiracial issues.
