#i guess you can't just call it bread or else you'll get shunned for being uncultured??? So technically while Baguette/Flute/Fiselle are bread, we don't call them bread at the bakery because "bread" refer specifically to loaf of bread that you then cut in thin portions, which is not how you eat a Baguette/Flute/Fiselle, so yes you'd be shunned for being uncultured about bread if you did say that. and it's why bread is "pain" in french because it sure is a pain to handle the sementics.
so pain in the bakery is loaf of bread you eat with a knife to cut it in thin proportions, but how would you eat a baguette/flute/fiselle?
i cut a baguette up for french toast at home every so often cause i like the texture of it better than a regular loaf of bread (sourdough also works) but i wonder if that counts as bread blasphemy lol?
no wonder why it sounds like some bakeries feel intimidating over there. you'd need a phd in bread in hopes that whoever is handling the bakery at the moment isn't mean about the different types of bread, like dang.
