This....#Repost @pincusrob with @get_repost ・・・ Are you working on a relevant skill set for personal defense or just playing with cool toys and collecting training certificates? Shoot House Runs and Feats of Great Marksmanship can be fun, but you shouldn’t be thinking more about “clearing” your house than you are barricading your family and you probably won’t need that 50 yard headshot capability that your RDS equipped 4” CCW Pistol is capable of. “Training” can be a fun hobby, but truly preparing for personal defense and developing the gear and skills related to practical security and safety usually isn’t all that sexy. We talk about searching out true “Learning Opportunities”, not just attending a bunch of classes. We talk about practicing the “fundamentals” and basics until they are automated. Find a contextually relevant Curriculum and purchase reliable gear. Train for the most likely events you could face, practice the skills involved and then, as you have extra resources (time, money, etc...), expand your preparation reasonably. Don’t just focus on the things you enjoy and don’t try to put the finest edge on your strongest skill set. Do the mundane work, study the boring material, own a second Same Gun instead of adding the latest model to your collection. Train and practice to Apply your skills in the way you will need them, not just perform them in isolation. Find Teachers and Coaches, not just instructors and demonstrators. And, remember, while it makes sense to be prepared, if you make good decisions and pay even a little bit of attention, you’re very unlikely to need the hard skills. Enjoy your life. #plausibilityprinciple #learningopportunities #everydayready #practical #dontbeahobbyist #basics #icetraining #warriorexperttheory #training #practice #frontload #developyourskills #protectwhatyoulove #veritasetutilitas
