I've been studying a lot more at coffee shops because I've found that it pushes me more to study and focus. I wanna kick the IB Mocks in the booty. Anyone has any tips? Please send them ahead! Xx

MOCK's
My MOCKs started today 😤 Finished English A HL paper one and Danish B HL Paper 1. Feeling quite confident about Danish but not so much about English, felt like I didn't mention enough things while comparing the two texts + I didn't manage to finish my conclusion before the time was over. Now to prepare for Sport, Exercise Health science tomorrow and psychology on Friday!
what is your study plan for the mocks? Mine are in January and I need motivation 🙏🏻
My school doesn’t do mocks much to my disappointment :( (they would be such good preparation ugghhh).
But I guess my tips (and plan for the real exams) are:
1. Start early. Start now even. (if you need to legit motivation check out my motivation tag). Just think “The more I do now, the easy and better it will be later” (that’s how I get through nordic skiing practice haha).
2. Start with big ideas and concepts and get smaller.
3. Fill in the missing (and biggest) chunks. What units did you struggle with? What tests/papers did you get the lowest scores on?
4. Flashcards (if you can study using them) are your friends.
5. Quizzing yourself and actively summoning your knowledge will help you WAAYYY more than just taking notes on the textbook or passively reading over old papers/tests. (If you can, see if you can get blank copies of old tests from your teachers. I usually did this for finals/midterms for math and it’s really helpful. You can also get old IB tests offline which is extremely helpful).
6. Study groups!! I think study groups are really helpful for subjects like history where there are a lot of different angles you can examine one event from. Having multiple people contribute their ideas and what they remember from the unit really fills in all the gaps you might miss. Just make sure the study group is small(ish) and productive otherwise it will be a waste of time.
For more tips (from people way more experienced than me), see my exam tag.
EDIT: also try making a study plan to figure out how much time and when you’ll review each subject/topic. Be flexible and forgiving and give yourself time between then end of the plan and each exam.
I'M STARTING MY IB MOCKS TODAY taylorswift WISH ME LUCK
I spent the whole day trying to study for IB mocks (happening next week). Of course, I should have known I wouldn't be as productive as I hoped for. I work better under time limits, under more packed schedules, under group study time which I did not schedule for this weekend. But it's okay.
I still have tomorrow, right? And I did get work done, just not as much as I had hoped for. I am still scared nevertheless, but I have to believe that I will be okay.
Anyways, I spent most of my free time today on Wechat, just waiting for messages to pop up. They did throughout the day, but my phone is eating my hours away too harmfully. I got to cut back on this bad habit soon. Same with eating junk food when stressed. I say this but I don't always do it.
After mocks, I really need to get a life. My eighteen year old resolution is, "I vow to do something with my life." I already have a checklist of things I want to learn and do, but it will take another set of perseverance to actually achieve my goals. But I should worry about that another day! Focus on the present first.
Got a lotta things to learn, both academically and life-wise. I guess I should return to studying?
BTW, it was a beautiful, peaceful snow day (in the morning).
