I figured if I was going to start a blog about how I study I should start off by showing you guys where I do so. This is my current desk set up for which I have worked very hard (my room was a mess) and yes it is below my loft bed because loft beds are my definition of cool.
Extended Essay: I haven’t fully formulated my research question yet, but it is in progress. As far as my topic goes, I’m doing my EE in “Waiting for Godot” by Samuel Beckett

Hi! I'm currently in my first year of IB and I'm going to have to choose an EE subject soon. Do you have any tips on how I could do this, or just some personal experience? I still don't have a clear plan on my future career.
After months of headaches and late-night breakdowns, I scraped an A on my EE. I chose Chemistry, because it was my favourite subject at the time, but boy did I make the topic way too complicated for myself. While I was genuinely interested in the topic, I should have given myself a more realistic scope. (Basically I assumed that I, a high school student, would be able to do the same level of research as PhD candidates. BIG MISTAKE.)Â
My advice is to firstly choose a subject that you are interested in, so when it gets tiring or frustrating, you’ll have at least some drive to invest all the effort you’ve got. Secondly, make sure it’s a subject that you can have a good idea/research question for. I was strongly considering an English EE because I also quite enjoy literature, but I’m glad I didn’t choose it because I know that my ideas would not have earned an A.Â
Don’t worry about whether your EE lines up with your potential career. You won’t be graded on the long-term career implications of your work. Focus on what will exhibit your ability to engage with a subject, perform independent research, and ultimately get you an A!Â
