Have you ever read any good self-insert fanfiction? Also, in your opinion what makes a good fanfiction good?
I have. I read one self-insert fanfic that made me cry. And it was for the Avengers. I’m really picky about those.I don't give out links to fanfics I like on the blog either because I'm worried someone might go and make fun of the author just because they don't like me or what I do on here.
I think it’s easier to say what makes bad fanfiction bad than what makes good fanfiction good because it’s easier to look at something and say “that isn’t quite right” than it is to say “yes, this is good” sometimes. Good grammar, spelling, and such helps. Decent characterization, background, motivation, and character development. It’s good when you can tell the author did her/his research. I think it’s good when you don’t break out of the moment to think “that’s odd” or “how does that work” while you’re reading.
