Hi. It’s such a normal word. It isn’t particularly sexy, it is a word that is uttered to just about anyone, stranger, friend, family member, teacher, or even crush. Yet, I find it increasingly amazing that those two letters can have the power to make my heart beat uncontrollably. At least, when Macklemore says them. Yep, you guessed it. I went back to  Barnes and Noble. I entered after work, hoping for just a glimpse of this handsome man, because after the day I had a glimpse could have easily turned it around. Yet, a table of books, distracted me and I figured it would help my cover, and without a doubt make me look less awkward. I was reading the back of a paperback when he walked over to me. His hair the same ridiculous style, but his eyes beautiful, and his smile sweet. More then anything I would like to say that it was my mysteriousness, the quiet way I read the back of the book that drew him to me. But sadly, I’m fairly certain that it was the promise of a pay check that caused this Barnes and Noble Macklemore to walk over to me. Now, we all know that I didn’t say anything brilliant, hell we all know I didn’t really say anything at all. I just smiled at him. To this he simply stated, “Hi.” And me, in my infinite smoothness nodded and barely managed to match him syllable for syllable. Then his next sentence really is what did me in. “Are you finding everything ok?” I just nodded my head and tried my hardest to give a normal smile. He politely smiled back and took off toward the help desk. I just turned around and walked away, hoping that my next encounter would be more meaningful than two people simply saying hi to each other.
