iaccyh is kind of at a weird point for me right now! i’ve been a bit hesitant to continue it because it’s been a hot second since i’ve been caught up on the manga, and i’m a lil concerned about keeping characterizations accurate :^(

Midoriya’s mother looks older than she did a week ago.

The lines around her eyes are tighter and her face is drawn when she answers Todoroki’s polite knocks at the front door.

“Oh, Todoroki,” she says. Her voice is missing its musical quality and feels like a weight on his shoulders. “Are you here to see Izuku?”

“Good afternoon,” he greets in turn. “I am. Is he free to talk?”

She smiles with just her mouth. “I’ll go check now—please, come in.”

Todoroki Shouto has not had a good history with love.

With feelings in general, for that matter.

He’s not some flirt, like everyone seems to think he is. He’s not a strong and brooding romantic, and he’s not playing hard to get. Having a “crush” was a foreign and silly concept to him, and teenage romances always just seemed like a waste of time. He distanced himself from that world, as hard as the paparazzi and his classmates tried to drag him into it.

That isn’t to say that he had never loved anyone before—just not really in the romantic way. And the few times he had loved, he had loved with his whole being. He loved his family so much it hurt. He loved Fuyumi’s doting and he loved his brothers’ adventurous, fun-loving spirits and he loved his mother’s calming voice and gentle touch.

But obviously, life didn’t really care about all that.

this is about to come across as HELLA cheesy but it’s comments like these that got me to push through and try to finish IACCYH in the first place!!

it’s probably pretty obvious that i dealt with burnout a couple times in IACCYH’s history (hooray for six-eight month hiatuses!!). i mean, hell, when i wrote that first chapter i thought i was looking at a year’s commitment max, since those first few chapters just poured out. again, cheese alert, but honestly, the number one way i go about relieving writer’s block is by looking at all the sweet and in-depth comments people have left on it. y’all consistently remind me how much i enjoy writing and how much i enjoy these two’s dynamic, and i cannot thank you enough for that :’)
