my main issue with fandoms is:
the way i'm a fan of most stories is a very silly, humorous, playful way, and sadly this attitude seems kinda unpopular in many fandoms
i ship a lot and i looove dramatic emotional shipping headcanons, it's my absolute favorite shit!
i also love analyzing the stories and making fan theories, i love learning all the details of the story and talking about them with people who also love the story, i love to cherish the story together
but i don't really like this extremely serious fandom talk, like psychonalysis deep analyzing of the characters and their every action from a very 2020s point of view in a very 2020s terminology, giving them rather far-fetched ooc headcanon backstories and motives, making everything very very heavy and serious, stripping the discourse of all the fun and whimsy
(it's especially wild when this happens in fandoms of comedies, like how can you make a comedy fandom that serious when comedy is supposed to be fun??)
it's so frustrating to open tumblr for some fandom fun and see people saying things like "you're a problematic person if you laugh at this character's situation because they're clearly very traumatised, this is a very serious and problematic thing, you don't understand" etc.
like what, they're just a silly little fictional character in a silly little fictional story (perhaps even a comedy that is made to entertain people) and i came here exactly to laugh at them and also to giggle and blush maybe a little bit
maybe i am a problematic person for sending my blorbos into the horse plinko i guess 🤷♂️
