i do hope that this letter finds you well, i know i’ve been terrible with putting it off for some time now. although, i doubt that surprises you, knowing me! what can i say other than that things in regards to the restorations to my family’s territory have been a bit hectic, so i truly am sorry if this is a bit overdo. i do hate — and know better — than to keep you of all people waiting.
anyhow, i wanted to thank you for the roses that you sent me! ♡ they’re absolutely lovely, really and truly. i’ve actually managed to keep them alive, you know. although, i think that’s partly because i keep them on my windowsill, right where they can get plenty of sunlight, and all of my attention. the note you sent with them was…also very sweet, so i wanted to thank you for that, as well.
do you think that you’ll be able to come to my family’s estate for a visit soon? i’d really like to thank you in person, you know. while there’s something inescapably romantic about our letters and the gifts you’ve sent me, it doesn’t quite feel right giving you my gratitude in a letter alone. you of all people deserve much, much more than that.
so — you will visit, right? this isn’t so much a request as it is a demand, you know.
whatever your answer is, i’ll be waiting for your reply. you’d better not keep me waiting too long, though! i know we’re both incredibly busy, but a knight is always supposed to make time for his lady, no? i’d really hate to have to revoke your knighthood on account of failure to uphold such a simple duty, you know.
i’m kidding, of course. thank you again, dear. these roses really put quite a smile back on my face, and that is something i can never thank you enough for. that won’t stop me from trying, of course. especially if you do come to visit me. oh goodness, it seems i’m starting to ramble, so i guess i’ll end this letter with another, simple but oh so heartfelt, thank you.
