xiao was usually cold towards you, and that was fine with you— but this sudden change in his attitude and his desperation really caught you off guard.

Wangshu Inn always had chatter buzzing around it. From the staff, to the foreigners staying there, everyone had a smile plastered on their face as they served and received.

All except one, your boyfriend, your lover— the adeptus Xiao.

As a normal human, you were beyond surprised he even expressed any kind of attention to you at all. Especially interest in a romantic relationship.

“You remind me of someone I met once, your beauty and nostalgia drives me towards you.”

The world of pure evil and demons didn’t really exist anymore, not that you could tell anyways. Xiao always made time to come back to the Wangshu Inn and share tofu and time with you. No matter what.

As much as you fell in love with his valor and his story, he was all in all immortal. The idea of him spending your entire lifetime with you was romantic, but there was always the feeling of doubt or that he simply didn’t have time for you as a whole. As much as you hated to agree with these really ugly feelings, you decided to act on it.

Saturday nights were quite a top Wangshuu Inn, there stood the adeptus Xiao looking over the view the moonlight had provided him with. He heard your footsteps approaching him a while ago, but he couldn’t help but seem aloof to you.

“Good evening, Xiao,” you greeted with a smile.

He turned to you and nodded, his usual frown on his face, “Evening, (Y/N).”

You leaned over the wooden railing, and took a deep breath once he came into your peripheral vision.

“We need to talk about something, it’s about our… Relationship,” he stayed quiet and nodded waiting for you to continue, “I don’t it’s working out.”

A violent pang hit Xiao’s stomach, his eyes widening as he began to feel lightheaded from the sudden surge of anxiety.

He could only muster a single word, “Why?”

“I’m a human, in the long run I’ll just be the equivalent to a mosquito. You’re immortal Xiao, and the way you treat me so cold makes me think you’re only keeping me around for your own entertainment…” you could only sigh, “I’m tired, Xiao.”

His face contorted, his brows slanted up with his eyes screaming for you to stay.

“No! That’s not true at all! I love you so much, I’m cold to protect myself! If you leave I’ll be lost for the rest of eternity! Don’t do that to me!”

Xiao was lying through his teeth, he loved you? He didn’t know, he just needed you to stay.

“You’re an adeptus, you’ll be fine without me. You act like I'm so important all of a sudden.”

Panic ran through his nerves, “You’ve always been important!”

You were already making your way out, “Thanks for the nice memories, Xiao.”

“If you leave… I’ll kill myself I swear! I can’t live without you.” He’ll be fine. He’s just a liar.

XINGQIU

he’s the biggest know it all with an even bigger pride— it’s so fucking annoying. 

you never minded the cute little fun facts he’d come up with whenever you were doing something— you found it rather cute in fact.

HOWEVER whenever you try to state some kind of fact or whatever, he will try to do his best to correct you. he’ll exploit your insecurities and use them to his advantage

he also never apologizes, about ANYTHING

when you told him you wanted to break up he only talked more shit, he could care less— he’d probably act like nothing happened later on though.

You and Xingqiu were in the middle of a very passive aggressive argument.

“I’m so fucking tired of your smartass attitude, you can’t just settle with facts or apologize when you’re wrong. I’m done with you, it’s over.”

You slammed your hand on the low table between your two, making the silverware and teacups softly clatter.

Xingqiu scoffed, “Maybe I wouldn’t be such a smartass if you weren’t so stupid! Go ahead! Leave!”

You stormed out, slammed the door behind you as you made your way to the Adventurer's Guild who should be able to provide some warm beds for you to lay in. You spent the night crying tears of pure rage, Chongyun quietly observing you coming in from his recent expedition.

The next day was better, much better— only until…

“Oh! Hello (Y/N)~ lovely afternoon isn’t it?” Xingqiu’s voice sang through the air, wanting to make your ears bleed.

He snaked an arm around your waist pulling you towards him, your hips bumping together.

“Why are you touching me?” your voice was low, you didn’t make eye contact with him.

He looked confused, trying to see your face, “Whaddaya mean? You’re my partner! You’ve never minded until now…”

You scoffed, “I told you last night, are you deaf? It’s over, so stop touching me.”

You santered away from him, walking away from him entirely. You could hear Xingqiu’s confused protests, but you ignored them entirely— you were tired of his face and his attitude.

BAIZHU

the most manipulative bastard you’ve probably ever met, some light yagami kira type shit--

he’s one of those types of people that hates repeating himself, and he gets really antsy when he actually has to for whatever reason.

Baizhu is one of those people that have a very sensitive pride, and if you scratch it one bit he talks about how “well” he treats you and how you should respect him more

Not to mention, he's super possessive and touchy. Every once in a while he’ll stick his hand up into your shirt to grasp your chest, when you told him you were uncomfortable, especially in public he completely ignored you.

You only stayed so long for Qiqi

All in all he’s a terrible person and you’re wasting your time on him, and once you realized that you tried to break up with him after the pharmacy closed.

The lights dimmed, the soft flapping of moth’s around the lanterns hanging around the entrance of the pharmacy.

“Qiqi, darling. Will you pick some of the mint that’s growing in my room for me?” You peeked over the reception desk.

With a sparkle in her eyes, she hurried off into the small hallway. Baizhu, Qiqi, and yourself lived in the basement of the pharmacy, you had a small garden of herbs and small plants by your bedside. You were arranging papers behind the desk just to get everything organized before you all turned in for the night. Your body ceased movement once his voice reached your ears.

“It’s already so late, I might go to sleep a little early tonight…” Baizhu leaned on the doorway, his eyes lingering on to your ass.

You sighed before you started thinking clearly. You hated how he made you feel, this overwhelming fear enough to make you quake. Baizhu had never hit you or harmed you physically, however always after an argument without fail you’d get food poisoning.

“Hey Baizhu… I wanted to talk to you about something…” you almost stuttered, but you forced your voice steady.

He hummed, signalling he acknowledged you.

You sighed again, “I think our relationship isn’t really working out-”

“I think you’re confused,” he interrupted you, “Think hard about what you’re going to say next.”

Your hands began to shake, your breath quivering as you exhaled.

“I don’t like the way you touch me, and you ignore me when you tell me to stop. You hate it when I ask you for help…” you paused, “I shake when I hear your voice in fear. I’m tired of it, it’s time to end it… Please understand.”

His mouth twitched, he scowled at your pathetic attempt at a breakup.

“What about Qiqi, and all of your things downstairs?” he asked, shaking his head.

As if he cared.

You finally made eye contact with him before he interrupted you.

“If you leave this pharmacy I’ll burn your things, and you’ll never be welcome here ever again. Do you understand me?”

His tone of voice made your internal organs quake, you were terrified out of your mind. You didn’t know what to do but sit there shaking. You were trapped here.

“Qiqi… doesn’t understand.”

A soft voice perked up, turning both of your attention to the small girl who held mint and other various weeds in her hand.

“Qiqi loves (Y/N), but if they do not wish to be here any longer… Then (Y/N) has every right to leave. Right Baizhu-sama?”

She looked up at the two of you. The man on the other side of the room took a second to think.

He had a fake smile decorate his face, “You’re right Qiqi, however I love (Y/N) very much therefore she has no reason to leave. You should not get involved with these adult matters.”

You scowled at him, “You harass me! I loved you but all that love was thrown away after you made me vomit for hours on end! Or when you sexually assault me!”

“You need to learn your place! You belong to me,” he immediately rebutted.

“I am not your toy!” you suddenly exclaimed, tears peeking from the corners of your eyes.

Baizhu strided towards you, standing over you like you were scum, “You are what I say you are.”

“This isn’t love, Baizhu!”

He grabbed your collar, raising his voice at you causing both you and Qiqi to flinch.

“You wouldn’t know what love is, all you know how to do is complain! Leave this place and I’ll kill you!”

Your heart stopped, sobbing softly as his glare violated you.

You were helpless, you didn’t know what to do.
