He and Heike met at university. They were both a part of the same friend group and grew close over time but they didn't start dating until after his military service.

He is multilingual, being able to converse fluently in Sokovian, English, German, French, as well as basic conversation in Czech, Hungarian, Romanian and Slovak. Russian is not one of his languages and he is bad at it.

He was a part of a fencing group at university and competed in fencing when he was in the army.

His swordsmanship skills come from weapons training when he was a boy. His family respected tradition and made him take lessons. He is also proficient in archery, firearms and martial arts but he didn't enjoy them as much.

He was considered one of the 'heartthrobs' of the royal family, and was often featured in gossip magazines in his early twenties. One magazine jokingly declared a 'day of mourning' when his engagement was announced.

He loved domesticity and being a father. If it wasn't for his commitments with the army and his team, he would have retired to become a househusband. Despite having staff, when he was at home, he cooked meals himself.

He was caught in the Novi Grad bombings of 1999 and received serious burns down his back and the right hand-side of his body. He is heavily scared and has nerve damage.

Since all the pictures of Heike and Carl got destroyed in the destruction of Sokovia, he carries around a newspaper clipping of a paparazzi shot from shortly after Carl was born.

After dropping Heike and Carl off at his father's estate, he went to join the battle of Sokovia with the rest of his unit. In the car on the way, his son made him promise he would bring Iron Man back to meet him.

Oeznik would sneak Carl a Turkish Delight from the jar every day. Zemo pretended not to notice because he remembers Oeznik doing the same for him.

He was sent to boarding school in Germany at the age of six, but got himself expelled because he was homesick. In the end, Heinrich and Hilda agreed to have him home-schooled.

Oeznik’s wife used to put a Turkish Delight in Oeznik’s pocket for him to give to Helmut. When she died, he carried on the tradition in her memory.

Heike and he both wanted a big family with lots of children. They tried for years without success before they adopted Carl. They were in the process of adopting another child during the Fall of Sokovia.

He was very loyal to Heike, even before they officially started dating. Despite having the reputation for being the ‘wild card’ of the aristocracy, he was never unfaithful to her.

He was good friends with the son of the German Ambassador for Sokovia in his late-teens/early twenties; the two of them where frequently reported to be unruly. On one occasion, they got arrested and Heinrich had to pay a lot to keep the details out of the press.

His focus completely shifted after the 1999 bombings and his injury. It was then he decided that he was going to work his way up in the military after his recovery.

After his first arrest, almost all of his properties were seized and his things sold of in police auctions. Oeznik went to as many as he could to buy back items that were sentimental, including his and Heike’s family heirlooms. He has been keeping them safe since.

wanda grew up seeing zemo's face in magazines when she was a teenager. she had a huge celebrity crush on him and often daydreamed about becoming a baroness and using her influence to fix her country. (shameless fanfic promotion).

being around zemo reignites wanda's patriotism. she stops hiding her accent and starts to reconnect with her culture and religion.

zemo feels responsible for wanda getting powers because he failed to stop hyrda operating in his country when he was leading eko scorpion.

since she was so young when she lost her parents, wanda was never taught how to cook traditional food. zemo teaches her.

they want more children desperately but neither are ready for that.

he likes to stoke his fingers through her hair, finding it relaxing. he will often pet her hair in his sleep.

he has, on occasion, called her heike by mistake. it hurt her at first, but she slowly accepted that she will always be a part of his life like vision is for her. now she just smiles and says 'you and your redheads'.

wanda often forgets that (unlike vision) zemo needs to eat/drink. she will makes snacks/drinks for one and have them in front of him. he stares at her intensely until she notices and offers him some.
