hmmm I feel like jjk fandom is very cliquey
yeahhh I can definitely see it lol imo most fandom spaces are nowadays? There's always been 'types' of fans who flock to certain characters or ships or a power scaling community or are dedicated to plot holes and meta-analysis. It can all be very fun and I try to partake in a little bit of everything for fandoms I adore (hq, fma, berserk, etc) even if I've never been very actively 'part' of fandom spaces (obviously aside from occasionally sharing art/words).
But! because I'm typically character-driven and very Toji-brained right now and will consume/engage with pretty much ALL possible depictions of him (I hate to be this person and say this, but I wouldn't really consider myself a huge jjk fan sjxjkjsjd- love and appreciate what gege's done with his characters and story!! but I just really like this one guy so it feels wrong to say its my favorite sandwich when im here for the swiss [HAHA UNINTENTIONAL HOLE JOKE ok sorry]), I have noticed the various pockets that make up this fandom.
To be fair, I'm only rly here n on ig so I can't speak for the dynamic on twt or tiktok or reddit or bsky (tho I recognize different platforms can facilitate the creation of these bubbles), but I have noticed it can be cliquey even (especially?) within rarepair or xreader artists n such. Idk if its just my imagination, but I feel like writers within those communities tend to be more open to interaction lmao
Obviously it all varies from person to person and some groups overlap while others stay more isolated, but you do see the same people circling each other a lot. Most of the time I give ppl the benefit of the doubt n say its because there are private friendships there and/or because there are a variety of age ranges that like to stick together; like-mindedness is more fun to plenty of people when you're bouncing ideas off of others in a volley rather than having to dodge n weave n go running after missed shots. (I think the missed shots are great to engage with n learn from as well, but I won't deny the elation of a good volley!)
All that said, I'm not the best read on this cus once again, I'm just obsessed with this One toy (I have to be dreadfully and annoyingly honest n say toji is my priority as much as i wish I could focus on anything else) and will play with whoever/whatever my rot's whims can get its hands on, hoping that showing up with grateful and respectful curiosity n intrigue is enough to get people to reciprocate! If it isn't, then maybe I take my toy n play by myself for a while til somebody comes along I can babble with and on goes the cycle lol
