This Ain’t The Trap… Its A Trap!

There were Ten guys in a vaccent house. Touching the hands of clientele through the door cracked. Looking out of The windows seeing many faces. The night was still young. Maybe about nine years old. Everbody in the spots pockets were swollen with dead presidents from years ago. The look out kid on the black beach cruiser bike comming down the street. He was peddling his bike faster then…

No matter how hard I try to get comfortable working at the conference center, it is still slightly uncomfortable to see all of my friends there attending events and celebrating. Everytime I see them, I wish I was there with them learning, celebrating, building awareness, working the room and etc.

Well it has become much better. I now accept that many people like myself end up working a variety of odd ball jobs to make it all work as a person in their 20′s trying to gain traction. Some of my friends that I feel are the most successful are rocking second and some even third jobs.

So now I do not try to hide the fact that I am working the event. I shoot smiles at my friends, say hi, give out fist bumps and shake hands.  If I am wearing gloves I do shoulder bumps, chest bumps and hugs. It is pretty comical sometimes when someone comes up and says “Hey Mike! Whats going on?” and then they offer a hand shake. I put up my glove covered hands and say no can do, lets do a shoulder bump or hug it out. My friend Dave was the one that came up with the shoulder bump idea. You are an innovator my friend.

The best thing is when a friend catches me working an event and feels compelled to introduce me to someone they know. They usually make an intro by listing off a few accomplishments and ways I am involved around the state. Then the person gives me a funny look. Their face tells me that they are surprised/confused. The look: how is it that this kid that looks like he is in high school and cleaning up our plates is conquering the world of NH and already done all of this stuff that many in their 40′s and 50′s have not done?

You gotta hussle baby :-) So now I embrace the fact that while I am working the events, I am also hussling. I am meeting new people, reconnecting with old friends, connecting like minded people at events and talking about the events across my social media.
