#hurricane lamp

Pardon the poor camera skills, but my all time favorite atmosphere to be in is the dead of night by the light of an oil lamp. The soft, flickering flame that brings contrasting light to the otherwise dark night is very comforting. The gentle warmth it provides also cuts the slight chill that's present because of the lack of sun. Combined with the ever present buzzing and chittering of the night insects and the occasional rumble of a passing car it becomes a place where I can be at peace. No responsibilities, no rush, no stress. Just me, this lamp, and the night. This is the life.
