So. I’m having an artificial disc installed in my neck on Monday and I’m low key terrified about the surgery but what’s worse is that I haven’t been able to take my usual medications because they 1) need a baseline of my pain when I go in for surgery and 2) don’t want me to bleed out. So I’ve been without my muscle relaxers, my arthritis medication, and my pain medication. I’m fucking dying right now y’all. It’s been a constant 8 on my pain scale since yesterday. I have 36 hours until surgery and I’m gonna be white knuckling the whole drive there because of how fucked I am.
Never, ever, EVER denounce someone’s need for pain medication. I don’t complain about my pain too often because with chronic pain you adjust and get used to it but my life would be utter fucking agony without the intervention of medicine. I’m all too well aware of it right now and I will never again forget how much medication has saved my life.
