Hummock (noun) – a small hill
Surrounded by mountain peaks, the modest hummock might be easy to overlook. However, these small hills, also known as knolls or hillocks, add to the texture and terrain of Mount Rainier’s landscape. Look how this hummock catches the sunlight, creating an island along the valley slope. Hummocks can have a wide variety of forms and origins. One possible source is a pile of debris from an avalanche. Have you taken any photos of hummocks in the park or where you live?

so my husband as you might or might not know in embarking on an adjunct professorship position at the sw university here in georgetown. I've been there yesterday and even lay in a yellow-and-black striped hammock, half-heartedly attempting to read something amidst the monotonous cry of incredibly loud cicadas.
sw is a small private cozy university, and for the first time I thought (I've been only connected to these huge universities, clumsy machines with throngs of people each of whom you meet in the street for the first and the last time in your life and you know it), I thought, maybe it is good to teach in a small university (in fact the smaller the better, maybe); you soon know everyone and everyone knows you
