Been loving your internet humans with all the different sites and personalities!!
Was just wondering, don't know if you planned the story that far or what, what is Twitter/X's reaction to hearing AO3 and Tumblr getting married??
Thanks so much! I'm having fun with them π
Tbh... I'm not sure how Twitter (the userbase) reacted to the whole thing? Cause I don't actually have a Twitter account and have sworn off that website. If anyone knows or has screenshots of the general reaction/vibe lemme know? Here's what I was thinking tho;
Twitter has been so deep in their own shit, they didn't even notice AO3 & Tumblr were dating. They have a lot going on and think Tumblr is still single. They haven't had time to notice because Twitter is currently in a toxic relationship with 4chan!
This is based on the fascism moment moving from 4chan to Twitter after the Muskrat Incident. Like IRL there was a quote of a user saying something like, "There no point in 4chan now that El*n's bought Twitter." And then 4chan got hacked, leaving it's user base looking for a backup.
(And yes I am censoring his name out of pure disrespect. His name does not deserve to be around that long.)
From what I've seen, there are still good people on Twitter trying to fight back. Trying to retain some semblance of normalcy and show this isn't normal. But more and more people flee to places like Bluesky or Threads.
Despite my bias against Twitter, I'm trying to reflect what's happening IRL. Every day, Twitter loses themselves a bit more. Their pronouns/gender presentation changed against his own will. Every day he's a bit more like 'X' and a lot less like Twitter. And he's losing people's favor, failing to be perfect, and acting more cruel. He's becoming all the things that he swore he'd fight against.
4chan is also Very bad. Think about the worst person you've ever met in your life. He's even worse. Sooooo much fucking worse. Like 'encouraging school shootings' kind of worse. It is genuinely worrying that he's dating Twitter. Their relationship is toxic as hell, but Twitter can't break away. 4chan won't let him.
So yeah, Twitter didn't even notice that Tumblr proposed. And if he finds out later, his response would be, "What? No you didn't, they wouldn't say yes to you." even though it happened right in front of him. He's too wrapped up in his own problems to have noticed.
But once Twitter does know? I can only imagine he'd be angry and bitter.
"Tumblr's still got to fix their Trans-misogyny issues before I'll let them rest."
"AO3 isn't even that good anyways."
"They're both degenerates, I hope they both die."
"The stuff those two make should be illegal."
"AO3 could do better, I hope Tumblr doesn't ruin them for everyone else."
Those are the things they'd be thinking and similar sentiments I've seen online. But, if I'm personifying these websites, letting them have their own thoughts, I think it's appropriate to add this one.
"Why couldn't it have been me?"
Of course, I'm not on Twitter so I can't say how accurate that is to the culture there!
