To clarify, I'm a librarian of 7 years in SC and we do often prioritize candidates with experience with teaching. Especially if you want to get into a assistant position, you may be expected to run programs for library patrons which is surprisingly similar :) Either way it's a competitive field, so any way you can beef up your resume helps you stand out against other candidates.
