Look at this beast. I feel for those in its path, people and animals. There is a wildlife sanctuary out there 🙏.

This fire started off of US 395 just south of Hallelujah Junction on the California Nevada border on Aug 8th. The wind pushed it east into NV, I was under evacuation orders on Saturday. The fire kept pushing east.

In fact, we may be far closer to socio-economic tipping points than we are to physical tipping points. A prime example comes from the insurance market. Insurance companies are pulling out of regions most susceptible to the impacts of climate change, including California, Florida, and Louisiana.  The insurance companies that are moving away from these places aren’t bleeding-heart…

It may be natural for heavy rainfall or snowmelt to cause rivers to overflow their banks, but the actual destruction that results — damaged infrastructure, destroyed homes, ruined crops, washed-away topsoil — is a result of human behavior.
