Waiting, when you have never got used to something like that before, had become a quiet reality that lingered underneath her everyday actions. Even when he only was working in a different part of the city, the idea of seeing him and the minutes that would lead to that was a thought that came and went, annoying and sweet as it was. But it had been only recently, after the first time apart for longer than a couple of days, that the witch has had to endure the consequences of having someone to miss, and the discoveries that such first exploration of the feeling brought to her: impatience, doubts. Is he going to come back? She wondered sometimes while trying to fall asleep. Is it only me missing him like this?
She didn’t like when she started to think like that, but truth to be told, those were the kind of things that followed her to the moment of their next reunion.
The day had come and she prepared herself for that. Kept herself busy to avoid the contents of her own mind at all costs. But even though some of that proved to be efficient, nothing she did became enough to prepare her for the impact that would be to see him again. Yes, he appeared. His familiar shape crossed the door and the world went mute and still for the both of them; no noise, no movement, no distraction appeared for the instant in which she recognized the pair of eyes she had long missed, and the smile she strongly longed for.
“Theseus…” She gasped, quietly. Barely a sound only she got to hear and very much required in her need to understand how real this moment was. “Theseus!” The repetition is loud and a little shaky as she rushed a few steps and feels the influence of the tears that are about to come. His firm arms find the way around her, and Leta buries her face in him as if the distance was something she was fighting to eliminate between the two of them. And simply as it was, the voices in her head fell silent and all she was left with was the sensation of feeling complete again.
“Oh, with how much I’ve been missing one of these? No, please. Don’t even dare to let go.” The smile that reaches her lips is filled with both relief and joy. And as she leans in once more, quietly getting comfortable against his shape, she allows a few minutes of silence to swirl around them. Enjoying the soothing beat of his heart and the warm smell of his traveling clothes.
“How did everything went?” She finally says after a moment in that position with him. “Are you alright? I’m sorry, I should have asked that first. But— you are, right?”
