you didn’t know how to plan.

looking back, you wish you’d of confessed to your boyfriend just a little sooner. that way at least you’d be having your anniversary in autumn instead of the dead middle of winter.

and it’s not like you can’t do anything during winter, there’s actually quite a few activities that you know are very fun, but the problem is you’ve done them already.

I’ve skating? did that fifth year. snowball fight? sledding? snowmen? sixth. warm butterbeer at the three broomsticks? tradition.

so for your last anniversary at hogwarts, you were fairly concerned. you wanted it to be just as magical as the others, but you didn’t know what else to do.

when you expressed as much to jin, he promised you he would take care of it.

after all, “you trust me, don’t you?”

so, you reluctantly passed the torch over to him. it’s not like he’s never helped you plan before. on the contrary, his little ideas and details always prove vital to your magical evening.

so you suppose he’s given you no reason to worry.

but still.

you can’t help it.

that leads you to where you are now: standing in front of your mirror, trying to figure out where you’re going and if you’ve dressed appropriately.

granted, jin had told you that you didn’t need to dress warm this time. so you didn’t, but you’re still unsure of just where exactly you could be going.

it’s freezing out. even if you’re not going out, you’re likely to get a little cold staying inside anyway.

you hate not knowing these things.

your roommate knocks on your door and pokes their head in. “he’s waiting outside for you.”

you nod and thank them, inspecting yourself one last time before heading to greet your boyfriend.

waiting for you just outside the entrance to the common room, you watch as he idly bounces on his toes, blowing air mindlessly past his mouth.

when he hears you, he turns and his eyes go wide with awe and adoration.

“wow, yn,” he laughs to himself as if he still can’t believe you’re real, even after all this time. “you look amazing!”

you smile proudly, but the blush on your cheeks betray you. “thank you, but you don’t look so bad yourself.”

he gasps in mock indignation at having fallen anything short of absolutely stunning, a hand pressed into his chest.

you giggle but assure him he’s perfect, grabbing at his hand to lay a little kiss on the back of his palm.

his ears turn shamefully pink, but he grins, returning the sentiment on your cheek.

you ask several questions as he maneuvers you both around the castle, having revealed that the two of you’d be staying inside it this time.

mouth still open to ask another question, jin stopped you in front of one of the castle’s many empty stone walls.

“we’re here!”

you frown.

what?

“jin... honey,” you lick your lips, wondering if this is some sort of joke. “this is just a wall.”

“is it?”

your frown deepens and he sighs. “c’mon, yn! you go to a wizarding school, in a wizarding world, and you still only see a wall here?”

you’re about to retort when he walks straight up to it, laying his hand flat against it.

he doesn’t say anything and neither do you. for a moment you think he’s gone mad. but then you hear a sound.

the stone moves.

suddenly, there’s a door there. one you’ve never seen before. it’s pretty and intricate and utterly huge in stature.

“yn,” jin grins, his arms spread wide in grandeur. “welcome to the room of requirement!”

you’re speechless now, any other questions you had long gone. jin chuckles but takes your hand, leading you through the door and into a large, nearly empty room.

it’s dark inside, no proper lights to be seen. in fact, the only source of light in the entire room comes from that of a candle, placed on top of a table in the center of the room.

a dinner for two.

“i know it doesn’t look like much at the moment,” jin concedes, yet his voices still hold the pride of someone who knows they’ve done a good job. “but that’s why i want you to close your eyes.”

you arch a brow in question, but comply nonetheless.

you don’t hear a single sound, but you feel the way jin’s body moves as he spreads a hand out.

“open them.”

it’s warm.

you’re outside.

your eyes spread across the room that, somehow, no longer appears to exist. instead, you’re outside, in a beautiful garden, in the middle of spring.

the skies overhead are an encouraging baby blue and the sun’s rays peek out from behind a large cherry blossom tree. flowers and rose bushes grow all around you, lush green grass spread out as far as the eye can see.

and there is your table. right in the middle.

“jin...” you say, more air than actual word. “how did you—”

“i know you’ve always said that you wished our anniversary had fallen in the spring instead,” jin smiles bashfully, scratching the back of his neck. “so i decided that this time... it would.”

you attack him in a hug. tight and close and filled with all the love you suddenly didn’t know how to communicate with words.

he hugs you back.

“thank you, jin. this is amazing.”

“happy anniversary, yn.”
