HS WRITING TASK #02: stranded

for our next writing task, we're going to pair up characters and leave them stranded together at an airport. flight canceled. weather delay. missed connection. overnight layover. however you get there, your characters are unexpectedly stuck together and have to figure out how to interact and survive the situation.

if you'd like to participate, please reply to this post with the characters you'd be interested in using. you can use one or all of your muses, but please be realistic about how much time you think you’ll be able to commit. we'll pair everyone up (and do a little rp magic as needed, regardless of where characters live or travel from).

once pairs are announced, you'll have approximately 3 weeks to write your thread together. there are no requirements for length. simply communicate with your partner and write until you both feel the interaction has reached a natural ending. our hope is that this gives people an opportunity to explore new dynamics and write with characters they may not normally cross paths with!

for this task, your muses are stranded together at an airport — flight delay, canceled connection, weather issue, overnight layover, missed flight, whatever works best for your thread. feel free to set the scene and timeline however you and your partner would like. get creative!

there is no set reply count or length requirement. just communicate with your partner and write until you both feel the thread has reached a natural ending.

a   canceled   flight   making   what   was   supposed   to   be   a   short   two-hour   layover   into   what   was   now   an   overnight   one?   laguardia   would   never   do   him   so   dirty.   then   again,   maybe   it   would.   regardless,   that   did   nothing   to   change   the   fact   that   max   was   more   than   happy   to   complain   about   it   to   anyone   unfortunate   enough   to   be   wearing   a   name   tag   on   their   shirts.   a   fruitless   effort,   but   he   didn’t   really   expect   any   different.   there   were   some   people   who   just   genuinely   enjoyed   complaining.   and   make   no   mistake,   max   was   definitely   one   of   those   people.

airports are basically a wrestler’s second home. there’s certain ones that tiff already knows where the best coffee is or the best pre flight snack is located. the orlando airport is that place for the blonde. minding her own business per usual, tiffany was listening to her music, getting mentally prepared to go on yet another trip. the natural chaos of the room always made her feel slightly anxious and with nervous people around due their own personal reasons… she needed to guard her positive energy to herself. but fate had other plans.

another crack of lightning rattled the large windows facing the runway and sure enough, the message across the board flipped from ‘delayed’ to ‘cancelled’. there was a resounding groan from those who lingered around the gate, but lukas merely shrugged. he seemed far too comfortable and had already been drifting from one topic to the next for probably longer than he realized, whether or not his colleague was engaging.

“can’t you check that there’s another flight?” callum’s voice was increasingly agitated as he spoke with the airline agent, though the frustration wasn’t directed at them but rather the situation. the few hours of sleep in the last few days was likely no help either. “a bus? a train? …random car??” it was borderline panic before he resigned to running a hand down his face in defeat and stepping away from the counter. it was all catching up with him at once; atlas and all his needs, worrying about holland and what he was leaving behind for the g1, all the events that unfolded in the past week… try as hard as he might to keep levelheaded, it was weighing heavily on him. perhaps it was a sign from god to forfeit this tournament and call it quits.
