The Bomb's beating heart is officially out today, big job made easy with help from @divadpers posed here with yours truly over our prize. Yes, my tongue is hanging out, I'm old and feeble, I get it... π€£ Next on the list for the engine is strip it down to its core components. The head will be going away for a good clean-up, new guides and a porting. Block will be off up to a local place for a pressure test, cleanup and hone (no rebore unless it really needs it, and then only the bare 30-thou minimum). I'll be reassembling it myself, but there's a bit of expense in the head and the block, plus the new @crowcams gear I'm building it all around, so it'll be on the back burner for a while. At least until the biz picks up again from the 'rona times π€ Of course if either the head or block is rooted, it's EV town for me, baby! π Gearbox is out as well - holy shit that old clutch was sooooo fucked π - I'm reconditioning that one myself so I could probably make a start on it any time. No big plans or changes for that so a simple rebuild kit and a bit of TLC may be all it costs. While it's out I may look further into sourcing and fitting that accessory OD I was crapping on about a few weeks ago, but looking at the standard 3-sp non-synchro box where it sits now, I don't think that's going to pan out engineering-wise π€· What a great bloody days work!
