I think I've shown these off before - they're yellow, chinagraph pencil markings someone at the Holden factory/assembly plant in Sydney wrote on there in 1966, to differentiate the PMG fleet code Mercury Red panels from the standard Holden Sultan Red. It seems a bit of a shame to be sanding and painting over it to be honest.
