Sweet Spot in the Theater
Okay, so this was almost 2 years ago now but I remember it very vividly. I was going on a date with a guy from work, we coincidentally had the same first name, anyhow he seemed really nice and was a kinda geeky like me so I thought let’s give it a shot, seems nice. The ENTIRE ride there he talked about how much he didn’t like his job and would quit as soon as he could cause he wanted to be an actor and it was his passion to travel. Keep in mind the closest theater to my town is 30 min away. That’s fine but please let’s listen to at least background music. When we got to the movie theatre we got our tickets and drinks and were going to find seats and since I was walking ahead I found some that were pretty good. When I asked him if those were fine he gave me a lecture about how everytime he goes to the movies he finds the BEST spots, apparently all his friends always let him go first to find the ‘sweet spot’ with the best view and sound and it was kinda his thing. So I was like oh okay then go ahead. After about 5 to 10 minutes he finally settles on what he says are the best avaliable, low and behold the row right above the ones I suggested, wow so cool. Anyway the whole movie is spent with him continuously putting a hand on my leg and explaining every fucking thing happening in the movie like I’m not fucking there and can’t comprehend what’s going on. When it finally ends and I’m getting ready to head home, he has the audacity to ask if I want to go back to his place (he was staying in a college dorm with a roommate). He got the most serious hell no I have ever mustered the courage to say. Needless to say there wasn’t a second date and work was pretty awkward until he quit. But whenever I go to the movie theater I think about this date and it makes a hell of a story to my friends.
