12. Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
I mean back in the days I saw quite a few posts about how the whole Berena arc was boring/too much/annoying to some people, and since it’s the reason I started watching this show, I beg to differ… But other than that, whether it’s this fandom or another, it’s mostly the other way around: I tend to dislike arcs that are popular amongst even my fellow shippers.
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
The tendency to blame actors for the writers’ choices. And at one point, it went really far on here, or twitter, about Berena.
26. Most shippable character?
It’s almost a tie with Serena tbh, because Serena is outwardly flirty, which makes it more obvious just how much chemistry she has with a ton of folks upfront.
Bernie though, is shippable not through intended inuendos, but through her ridiculously blant manners bordering on hostility, which turned almost all of her first meeting with other main characters into a potential “enemies to lover” trope. Know what I mean? Like, remember her first days of defying Jac Naylor in her own damn theatre? Or ignoring all of Ric’s advice and going full surgery goddess/cowboy on his ass? Or not giving one fuck about Hanssen’s NHS policy stuff in favor of saving someone’s life like she would have in the field? Even when she first worked with Serena, there was a similar tension there. Overall, I think Bernie is shippable with people… almost despite herself? And I just love how that perfectly works with everything else we know about her.
