Hmm, I'm not sure what exactly contributes the most.

But I do not do any editing to my actual picture screenshots. I only crop them to crop out the red pause frame, sims' queues, and the little black numbers from testingcheats. But that's it. The way they look is what I see, in thanks mostly to Gshade I guess. I'm sure it's likely my laptop's graphics in general play a part but I'm not actually tech savvy enough to know where to find that info to share that.

I am just starting out creating things and so far have only fiddled with recolours. But the newest theme at GOS has me inspired and I’ve decided to do some 70’s clothing. And I’ve talked myself into a shoeswap for a pair of flared jeans first, before even recolouring them. I’ve never done a damn shoeswap and didn’t have Milkshape until today.

So I followed your shoeswap tutorial (I think from 2021?) both the text one and your YouTube one (your voice was comforting while I was frustrated so thank you haha) but I’ve spent about 8 hours collectively trying and trying again. The morphs (already existing with the pants), upon exporting, come up with a faces error. So I tried without the morphs.

First the shoe textures weren’t showing up in Bodyshop, then the second time I tried (I started over) the entire mesh was just invisible in Bodyshop.

The jeans are flared and have a low hem that covers the ankle. I have to delete the vertices of the original shoes to get them off the mesh. Then I delete the legs from the new boots (Emma boots) and they fit nicely within the flared jeans. But from there I don’t know if I just export the mesh once it’s all together, or if I’m missing a bone linking part? Or some kind of step. But I’m stumped.

I’m thinking maybe the pants I’m trying to shoeswap are harder than I’m qualified for?

What I’d like to know is if I could PM you the photos/mapping of the jeans and the boots I’m trying to stick on them, and you could tell me if it even seems possible? I need an expert’s advice!

You’re not bothering me at all, no worries! :3 It’s just, I’m not really sure if there’s anything I can do to help… From what you’re describing, off the top of my head I can think of a few things that might be the issue: 1) the mod isn’t installed properly; 2) there’s a mod conflict; 3) your graphics card isn’t compatible with Custom Post effects.

 Try to remember if you’ve installed the mod properly/ have followed all the needed steps to install it, and if need be try uninstalling/reinstalling the mod. You can find instructions on how to install it here and here, and to uninstall just do the steps in reverse: delete the files that should go into the Downloads folder from your Downloads folder and replace the userStartup cheat file with a fresh version (if you don’t have the file backed up, this page tells you how to make a new userStartup cheat). 

Another thing to look into is whether or not you have a mod conflict going on. Run the Hack Conflict Detector to see if one of your mods isn’t clashing with Custom Post effects. Some mods that are known to conflict are Skyfix, Pond & Sea Water Overhaul, Better Nightlife, most censor blur removal mods, most pause line removal mods.

Lastly, check if your graphics card can handle PostEffects. IIRC PostEffects requires graphics cards with Pixel Shader 3.0 or above (?) to work properly - this page will tell you what version of Pixel Shader your graphics card runs on. It’d probably best if you try these suggestions backwards, i.e. check your graphic settings and mods first and leave reinstalling the mod as a last resort. And while you’re at it, maybe you could also try a different version of PostEffects; the HBAO and SSAO versions look slightly different from each other, so if you installed the one and you don’t like the look of it, maybe the other one will catch your fancy more.

And that’s pretty much all I could remember. Hope the info I provided here will be somewhat useful, and fingers crossed that you can get the mod to work! ^___^
