Your HJ7 post is fascinating! I hope part 4 comes out! I have a question though: do you think chromium could be a component? Itâs a transition metal that can form salts thatâs known for easily changing colour! Specifically red, purple and green like the potion! I heard itâs even one of the reasons alexandrite changes from green to red under incandescent light!
Anon oh Anon, as much as it joys me to hear that you found my attempt to create something from a simple text into a real world (theoretical) equation interesting, unfortunately, I wrote those back in 2019 during a metaphorical stupor of obssessive discovery (like frankenstein) when I was still scientifically inclined, yet had the basic idea of how chemicals were to likely work with one another. Now instead of writing scientific analysis', I write literature ones. âŞ(^ăź^)ă
Although, your recommendation did make me consider going back down that rabbit hole once again, I don't have as much time as I did back then and I honestly don't want to get your hopes up for a dormat volcano.
I do have the part 4 in which I had kept in my drafts for the duration so I will share that but it is far from being anywhere near to completion and is also very short. Sorry about that.
~~~
Chromium though...
Thinking on it, I might look into that during my free time, but once again, don't get your hopes of me actually completing the research up despite it being a good suggestion.
Dearest Jekyll, you've grown quite quiet recently. How is testing coming along?
Thank you for asking, Anonymous! My serum is coming along just splendidly, better than ever before, really, what with the lack of pesky interferences messing about. I have been able to work in blissful serenity for⌠what time is it? Well, for the last good while, no arguing with impossible Irishmen or taking breaks for meals⌠Why, I can hardly feel my fingers anymore! Bahaha! âHJ
Have I begun to lose myself, same as Dr. Jekyll, in an attempt to formulate/re-create the chemical ingredients of HJ-7? Am I a good man? Or am I a mad man?
Itâs such a fine lineâŚ
Part One
Part Two
Foolishness below:
Alright-
So now weâre back to chemicals. I had decided that instead of using direct phosphorus we shall be using one of its dirivatives: Phosphate.
More specifically Orthophosphate, which is soluble phsophorus used by plants.
Now luckily, this allows for a liquid form and still smells like garlic (thatâs what phosphorus smells like), so sweet, letâs see what itâs about.
Phosphate is from Phosphoric acid (remember that string of chatter that led to P.A. from a while back? Yeah, itâs full circle), and available to plants kinda means that people can get their fair share without dying.
Phosphoric acid can also be heated to the point of condensation (with condensation meaning that two or molecules from another compound produce another product by being in equilibrium, i.e wonât throw hands when meeting, with each other and a water molecule. This refers to organic chemistry so donât worry too much about what you know what condensation is already.) where it then becomes pyrophosphates or diphosphates or triphosphates with its bond being very important in biochemistry as it relates to ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate: the energy provider for many living cells).
Intererasante, itâs almost as if the cells do stuff under its influence. Rearranging evenâŚhmmmmmm.
This is still white or colourless-
(As phosphorous tends to be so we still have nothing red going on.)
Apparently, the alkali metal salt versions are soluble in water and complexing agents for metal ions, so letâs check that out shall we?
In its salt form (How many forms has this thing gone through? Ave Maria), known as Trisodium pyrophosphate (and another being Disodium Pyrophosphate) it serves as a weak acid or base to maintain the acidity of a solution (buffering agent) or bonds ions or molecules to metal ions (chelation).
(Dammit, I tried to save what I said before but it didnât save, sigh ;-;
Good thing I have at least 10 seconds of memory before it gets auto-deleted)
In a pdf that I happened to come across, the researcher was attempting to make sodium ferric pyrophosphate (which just so happens to be an alkali metal what-not that we previously mentioned) for the enrichment of flour and other food stuff.
Tragically for them, they wanted it to be white coloured. Luckily for us, the product of their objective appeared in a yellow or reddish-brown colour.
Through the double decomposition reaction (positive and negative ions of two different compounds take part in the tv show âWife Swapâ and create two new compounds) of soluble inorganic salts with our tetrasodium pyrophosphate in an aqueous solution, we get our âdeliciousâ and pharmaceutical sodium ferric pyrophosphate.
This is used to treat iron deficiencies, and, if we were to refer back to my symptoms section of my analysis where Dr Jekyll pretty much gets his iron holding red blood cells K.Oâd by HJ7, he would very likely need this to replace that missing iron.
Alright, pull up back the ingredient mind map.
Old:
âWe have (white phosphorus + bromine; assuming, pre-made outside with proper fire safety) Phosphoric acid + carbon disulfide* Â + ???? (red liquid) + sodium bisulfate (our salt) + heat= ????.â
Newer:
Sodium Ferric Pyrophosphate + Carbon Disulfide (might not need this) (our red mixture)Â + Sodium Bisulfate (our salt) + heat= HJ7?
Now the part that always causes everything to go downwards into the descent of hell, reactions.
Ah boy.
Honestly, I shouldnât expect it to work but just like my younger self in math class this math equation gotta make sense somehow.
Iâm hopeful.
Alright-
Pt. 4 in the near future. We might be on our final stretch folks.
Edit: 04/30/2020 (Part 4 has been in my drafts for a good while now and I have no idea when iâm going to finish this, so anime cliff hanger except it was an analysis of a fake chemical.)
Okay, (I) watched some Youtube channels and we can get our red liquid by combining Chlorine water with Potassium Iodide (because the chlorine displaces iodine from its iodide solution)
But now we are back to square 1. Because Phosphorus refuses to not explode with Iodine.
Phosphoric acid (a weaker phosphorus) + Potassium Hydroxide also creates a red colour.
Potassium Hydroxide also does this:
But itâs okay, Dr. Jekyll knew what he was doing. He is also, not real.
Damn this red liquid! We might have to diverge from the original text to get our results.
OH SHIT
No, we have to bring back Carbon Disulfide because-
and
Correlate. This is due to the ether odour (maybe i can find another ether/pungent chemical that dissolves phosphorus?).
Alright, we donât exactly have much going on for chemicals, so letâs go into symptoms/effects of HJ-7 as well.
âBlackened faceâ (likely due to blood vessels reacting with the chemical; The skin relies on blood for oxygenation to rejuvenate cell growth, promote division, yada yada, and tends to take up the colour of blood, e.g jaundice which is caused by high levels of bilirubin in blood.)
With HJ-7 running through his veins what causes black blood?
Now I donât mean to be the bearer of bad blood but you know dried blood? Dead cells which have shrivelled and lost their ability to respire? Yeah.
HJ-7 likely increases his inner body heat to the point of cellular termination (hyperthermia, not hypo which is cold conditions preventing cell work). So meaning, in that moment all of his red blood cells literally die from the intense heat of his body. Likely the bodies effort to try and get rid of the dangerous chemical INCREASED BY HJ7 BECAUSE RB CELLS DIE AT 60°C (140°F).
Please also note that humans die from Hyperthermia of around >37.5°C or 99°F min.
And to put it into perspective the human bodies average temperature is 36.1-37.2°C (97°F-99°F).
âThatâs pretty close, canât be that bad, I feel outside temperatures like that all the timeâ you may be thinking. But guess what. Thatâs outside temperature, outside your body. Your blood is actively doing itâs best to regulate your inside temperature cause we lil bitches. Once that .5° is in your body, trust me, it be hitting different.
Weather temperature and Biological Temperature are two different banks. Be careful where that temperature dinero gets cashed in because the robber might work behind the desk.
Blood also blackens depending on how long it has been exposed to oxygen, so we can deduce that HJ7 either contains a chemical which causes intense heating or holds that missing part of Earthâs Ozone layer (has huge amounts of oxygen)
(also, turns ozone also has a pungent and ether smell; oh, ether means that it smells sweet. Ever been in a humid forest? take a whiff, smells sweetish? now you have a slight idea of what HJ-7 partially smells like. Please do not light a match.
Donât have a forest? Nail polish remover, gasoline, or starter fluid also does the trick. Please do not light a match or inhale it with all the power of Zeus.)
Next,
Gasping with open mouth
Lack of oxygen. Canât have oxygen transport if the cells which carry it are dead or overwhelmed.
Next,
Staggering
Lack of Oxygen, need I say more?
or maybe intense and overwhelming pain which causes intense bodily muscle convulsions. His face is melting and rearranging due to that phosphorus and other mysterious stuff. I wouldnât put intense pain aside as being a bodily âJustDance 4â instigator.
Next,
Remember that melting face bit? (also known as tissue necrosis, i.e being corrosive to human skin)
So alot of things melt faces, Hydrofluoric acid, Caroâs Acid (Pirahna acid), fluoroantimonic acid, the Ark of the Covenant, Knowledge induced by otherworldy beings, sulphuric acid.
But what could it be? Now that depends on what it reacts with in the body. Seeing as how it âmeltsâ skin we can assume that HJ7âs chemical reacts with either: Carbon, Nitrogen, Hydrogen and Oxygen (the main elements of our skin chemistry).
I would like to try out Oxygen as the main contender since Iâm assuming that the phosphorus in HJ7 is going absolutely buck wild in the oxygented environment (Humans are 60% water and Phosphorus doesnât react in water soooo)
THATâS WHERE THE BURNING MAN FESTIVAL COMES IN.
Jekyllâs body is evaporated of water, filled with something else and dead red blood cells and allows that phosphorus to go absolutely HAM in his body.
Now you may say:
No water, impossible! What the hell is he if not beef Jekyll??
Well, water is important because itâs a dissolvent of gases and elements important to your body. Nice moist skin is also great for protection and whatnot.
Now, itâs highly unlikely that all the water was removed but something likely did happen to it on account of its interaction with HJ7. Then when it was done doing its a thing, it gets replaced by regular blood, plasma and water again (assuming so, because Hyde isnât mentioned to still have the bulging horror of dead cell filled veins; he just weird looking).
Itâs probably some newly formed plasma (since thatâs what blood is anyways) that was chemically souped in the body, allowing HJ-7 to Usain Bolt through his body.
Then, as swift as a coursing river, HJ7 made its way through blood vessels in a violent burst of Taco Bell and bad decisions, being replaced by the sudden mass production of new blood vessels from Jekyllâs photoshop edited bones.
Whereâs it go though?
Now you could say it dissolved like some wimp ass chemicals in weak-ass dissolvent.
Itâs violent, itâs green, and the chemicals are MEAN!!! Bursting out of wherever the hell the nearest exit is! Ainât got no time to dissolve! This is WRECK HAVOC HOURS BABEY!!!
ENTER, BREAK A FEW BONES, AND LAUNCH OUTTA THERE LIKE A NASA SPACE SHUTTLE!
GATORADE AND FREAKING GO!
Anyway, what does that?
The closest symptom thing I could possibly get to it is blood vessel bursting/rupture due to sudden extreme changes in pressure. Now, we may be pretty elastic, but we arenât elastigirl, and frankly, neither is Dr Jekyll.
Unless?đđđ
Vessel inflammation is a foreshock of rupturing so, swelling of the face is checked here. Once those vessels popped, HJ-7 bled into his face and, well, you know the rest.
Inflammation, which is vessel constriction and clotting at its finest, trying to stop either bleeding or certain stuff from travelling through the body, ultimately could not stop the brute vibe check of HJ7. This in basic terms is an allergic reaction with important details missing.
But who cares, Iâm not a teacher and this is fiction.
Tune in for a PT 3 where I continue to bs my basic knowledge and comprehension skills on a chemical concoction no more in quantity than a bottle of âBicâ˘â white-out.
Y'know, I started that "What is HJ-7" analysis because of @dabibliophile ask in this post
I haven't come out with a pt 4 yet and I basically lost my previous posts because those were on my previous blog and I practically remember nothing.
But to conclude (from what I recall theorizing), No. Lanyon would be unaffected by drinking Hyde because HJ-7 wouldn't have lingered or be able to travel through his body via blood pressure because Lanyon does not have a heart beat. Probably hurt his stomach for a bit though.
I think???
That was all basically theory for a fake potion that I took way to serious only to then lose data for and just guess like it's one of my college essays.
Jekyll please take a freaking break! I know you want to do anything for science but at this rate you'll starve to death before your experiment is even over!
What a novel idea. You keep making reasonable observations like that and pretty soon Henry will be ignoring your texts and refusing to make eye contact with you. â HL
Please excuse this mildly irritating individual I am stuck in a room with, he makes comments no one asked for from time to time. In answer to your original question, I am gladly being sustained by the fruits of my labor. âHJ
