I love when this happens
Me, clearly speaking Spanish to relatives:Hola! ¿Como está? ¿Y los primos que hacen? (aka normal conversation starters but in Spanish)
Relative #1, visiting from the home country: I don't speak English
Relative #2, who knows me since infancy: ¿¿¿¿¿¿You speak Spanish???????
Me: ... Okay.
im not bitter
Why when I say I’m Hispanic/latina people instantly think that I’m Mexican? Mexicans aren’t the only Hispanics/Latinos. And then When I say I’m Salvadorian, they say “What part of Mexico is El Salvador in?” or “You’re El Salvadorian?” It actually is “Salvadoran” but I pronounce it “Salvadorian cause feels more natural. But “El Salvadorian”!
The Generalization of Latin and Hispanic people needs to stop.
Not every Hispanic is Latin.
Not every Latin person is Hispanic.
Not every Latin person speaks Spanish.
Not all of us are tan.
Not all of us are short.
Not all of us have wild curly hair like most seem to think.
We come in all the shades of the rainbow, every size you can think of, and any shape you can dream of.

Hispanic problems/triggers
1) When people automatically assume that you're Mexican (and you aren't) 2) When people think Mexican is a language 3) When people then ask if you're from Spain when you correct them about 1 (and you also are not from Spain)
Does anyone have parents who act bipolar or something similar like i was having a good morning my parents went to go run an errand and i had a boost of productive ADHD energy and decided to help clean up the house because i don't want my mom to feel stressed because if she's stressed or mad about something than my entire day is screwed BECAUSE THEN I HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT because im the verbal punching bag for some reason anyway where was i oh right i did that and my mom was so happy that i did it later while she's making lunch because i wanted to see what was the plans for today because i had nothing better to do and before i get to the switch up let me give back story yesterday i was at a fire department picnic and i was there since im a jr fire fighter and injured myself and panicked because it hurt (didn't break anything) and i got a panic attack and asthma attack and GOT FUCKING CALLEF OVERDRAMATIC WHEN I LITERALLY LIMPED TO MY RESCUE INHALER and didn't get to hear the end of it until then end of the day and i had time for me and i told a few friends and my lovely girlfriend ( @swagst0rm ) and they all asked if i was okay if im doing better? But my own flesh and blood called me over dramatic so cue today around lunch and my mom brings it back up saying "that little drama show you had yesterday if it was my dad that you did it in front of he would've beat you to next week for the beautiful drama performance you pulled yesterday" and i walked out halfway through because i wasn't having it i wanted to have a good day BUT SHE CANT LET THE FUCKING PAST BE THE PAST does anyone have any advice or at least deal with this daily
my school made posters for hispanic heritage day and then proceeded to only decorated them with the mexican flag
update: my PE teacher said I could write a list of all the hispanic counties and he’d give it to the class that made the posters :)
