"In the end, it's better to enjoy the time we have with those we love, instead of living a lonely life, which, in the end, doesn't really make sense. "Yeah, you're definitely wrong. I know better ways to toughen up someone, and violence is definitely not one of them." He scratched the back of his head, looking away awkwardly. The worst was Sonic's lack of regret.. he felt like Creamcicle definitely deserved that punch. Not Tails, though. Sonic knew Tails had done nothing wrong.

"I don't need a tittle to be with Shadow. I do whatever I want." He blushed as he answered the question, seeing how people were not calling him Shadow's "mate."

The fox didn't look happy to be back. And he took particular notice of Shadow, and the still broken window.
"I thought you swore you were going to fix that?"
"Eh- Maybe one day." As you walked inside, you noticed the place was an absolute mess. It was easy to tell the hedgehog had been leaving here this whole time.
He kicked a thing or two to the side before sitting down. Oh boy. This was... eugh. "As in you're going to ignore it until it bugs me enough that I fix it myself?"
He chuckled. "You know how it is." Sonic sat next to Tails, embarrassed about the mess. "I promise I thought about cleaning the place."
"Mhm. Just like you thought about fixing the window." He was not going to drop the window thing.
"C'mon, you know I'm not good at fixing things. That's literally your whole thing." Argued back Sonic.
He rolled his eyes. "It's a window. I've got a book on how to, or you call a guy."
"Listen, I'll buy you that book you've meaning to get if you drop the window problem." Said Sonic rolling his eyes. He had either way planned to get the kit the book, but he didn't have to know that.
"Fine." He'd bring it back up later. The fox stared at the ground.
"Fine!" Exclaimed Sonic, staring at the ground as well.

"I don't regret punching you." He blurted loudly. "I do regret spindashing at you, but not punching you. Is that even considered as punching you you? I mean, that was like your, emo alter ego, after all."
Sonic you dumb fuck.
"Ah, because as long as I'm on the doctor's side, I'm not me. I get it." The fox snapped back, almost instantly. "You can believe in your entire soul that Nine was me, but the second I'm in kahoots with Robotnik, nope"
"I'm just saying, you had a Eggman chip installed inside of you. How are you sure it didn't brainwash you in some way?" He sighed, so done with the duo's constant fighting. "If this is really you, though.. then I guess I don't know you, Tails." Sonic remembered his little brother tricking, and almost trapping him inside a container. "I thought you liked flickies.. Guess I was wrong."
"Creamcicle. And I checked the coding, it was fine! Do you want to run through it with me? I'll show you." He pulled out his miles electric. "And the flickies thing- i- I was just wrong. Liking them was just me going mental." He shook his head.
Sonic sighed. "I want to talk to you.. but I can't help but feel you're still brainwashed in a way. And sure, let's check those codes."
"I'm not. Now give me the chip" He eyed his brother. He had no clue where the hedgehog put it.
"Right, give me a second." He dashed to Tails' room, to realize it was nowhere to be found.
"Uh.. we have a little problem." Screamed Sonic from across the house. "I think Metal has it.."
The fox rolled his eyes, making his way over to his room. "Well, how am I supposed to prove I'm right if you don't have it."
"Now, how am I supposed to prove I'm right when your friend over there took it?"
"At least he's my friend. At least he trusted me."
He snorted. "Stay here."
The blue hedgehog dashed away through the broken window, and in a couple of seconds he came back with the chip. "Happy?"
"Very." he took it from his brother, inserting it into his miles electric once more.
"you see now, its not even triggered as eggman tech, so that's our first sign its fine. If I run it through a list of keywords, nothing pops up that is exceptionally pro-Eggman propaganda..."
the fox rambles on, putting it through multiple different scans for his brother to watch.
Sonic silently stared at the multiple codes that popped on screen. He was trying his best to understand when..
"What's that?" Sonic point at something that looked.. out of place. He couldn't exactly tell what it was, though.
The fox read it aloud to himself, muttering under his breath. He looked confused for a moment, before going into his settings and switching it into Binary.
"Thats, uhm. that's you proving me wrong... Congratulations." he stared at it, dumbfounded before running that particular section through the tests again. "that should have been flagged..."
Sonic raised his eyebrow. "You mean I was right about the whole brainwashing thing?"
"Well, yes and no..." he switched it back to english. explaining each line of code.
"These are... how do i word this- triggered commands. instead of constantly running, they're only active in certain situations. combine that with the fact that it doesnt explicitly mention you, eggman, or anything id be searching for, it bypassed all my scans. It's just small things, being safe with "the prince," specific situations the "no anger" protocalls are overruled-" he sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "i should have taken the time to read through the whole thing-"
Sonic had NOT understood a single word that had came out of Tails' mouth, still, it felt relieving that, in a way, he was right.
"Guess you got that recklessness from me. Never read anything completely through, which is why I had to legally work for the government for almost a month or else I'd suffer the consequences... dark times, indeed." Sonic realized he was getting slightly side-tracked, so he shook his head and went back to the topic.
"How does this make you feel, though? Do you feel confused? Ashamed that big bro was always right?" He chuckled softly, clearly taunting Tails. "Is your love for flickies back?"
"Always? More like for once." he scoffed, turning the device off and setting it to the side.
"I never disliked them... Metal convinced me that what we were doing for them truly was the best thing- it- I- my entire fondness for them was based off of something I had made up anyways." he wrapped his tails around himself, chewing on one of the ends.
"Confusion is one of many words..."
"Oh, so Metal convinced you.." Sonic noticed how his little brother was beginning to get anxious, worrying the hedgehog about the kit's well being.
"Hey buddy, no need to stress so much about it." Sonic very slowly placed his hand on the other's back, softly rubbing it in a comforting style. "This hasn't been easy for.. anyone, really. But that's alright. It'll be alright buddy. I just want you to notice what is actually going on here.. do you see what I see?"
He flinched at the first contact but didn't say anything about it.
"I see a fox who's been an absolute ass to the only person who loves him for no reason, out of many things." He offered
Sonic frowned, "Hey, first of all, you were not an absolute ass. And if you ever were an ass, then it was definitely not your fault." Sonic pulled the other closer, kind of hugging him from the side. "Second, your big bro was also an ass. And I'm sorry for that." He turned his face to Tails, and with a smirk, he continued. "Lastly, I don't love you for no reason. There are definitely multiple reason, but I know you're not too fond of cheesy stuff.. unless you want me to point them out."
Tails leaned against his brother, his eyes staring at the ground like a kid who was prepared for a scolding. "You love anything that moves. It isn't much of an accomplishment." He was choosing to avoid the rest. He had counters for it all, but he wasn't going to upset Sonic more by starting an argument.
"Oh, c'mon, I don't love anything that moves." The blue hedgehog chuckled, leaning his head on Tails'. "And please, believe me when I say I don't care about anyone like I care about you, little guy." Sonic looked away. "On a second thought, maybe Shadow, but that's different." He blushed, before adding. "My point is, you're my brother! I'm not going to love a flickie as much as I love my brother. You're special to me, soo special to me, so go ahead and give yourself some credit."
"Oh. Ok." He took it all in for a moment.
"You wanna have Shadow as your boyfriend~" the kit pressed, seeing a possible exit from the conversation.
"That's completely off-topic." Argued Sonic. "But yes, maybe." He nervously chuckled, thinking about Shadow for a moment before asking. "Why did we even fight in the first place?"
Exit fail. At least he admitted it anyway.
"That's... a question I would know the answer to if my head wasn't throbbing. 'Prolly something stupid, though. It always is." Maybe he was avoiding the question. Maybe he wasn't. His head did hurt, though. He wasn't lying about that.
Sonic sighed, deciding to finally drop the convo. "Yeah, I don't think we're getting anywhere like this. I can tell you're getting a headache." He let go of Tails, stretching his arms and standing up. "I'll make us some dinner and maybe after that we can finish this. How does that sound?"
"C'mon Shads.." Sonic let go of Shadow, crossing his arms in defeat.
He calmed down suddenly he turns away glancing downward, trying to hide the pain that he felt in that moment. He doesn't know why he does that but the darker hog's mind clicks like that.
"...Fine whatever."
Sonic tapped his foot mpatiently. Shadow was hurting, really hurting, and, to Sonic's dismay, there was nothing the blue hedgehog could do. At least not like this.. if he wanted to help Shadow, he had to be more serious. More straightforward. And that's exactly what he did.
"Shads," he began. "Listen, I'm worried about you. I've been trying to get close to you but because of your.. fear of losing others, you're not letting me. And in the end you're just isolating yourself." The hedgehog got closer to the other. "That's not healthy, man! I can.. I can help you." Sonic's hand brushed Shadow's.
"..It's better this way, just isolating myself... better way than someone I care about gets hurt, atleast not again." He mutters getting that quick flashback again before he felt Sonic's hand gently grabbing ahold.
"Shadow... sometimes it's not about that." He grasped the other's hand tightly. "Sometimes you've got to enjoy life in the moment.. live it to the fullest in the time you have. If not, then you'll be unhappy forever.. and what's the point of that?"
"Sonic... listen." The darker hog turns to face the other blue one. "I promised Maria to protect the world, and that's what I'm doing... even if I have to sacrifice my own happiness to do that, I'm keeping that promise."
"Well, I protect the world as well." His eyes stared at Shadow's, "And I'm not always alone!" Sonic got closer to the other, suddenly holding grasp of Shadow's other hand. "We can so this. Together. The two of us." He finished with a smile, showing Shadow that he was not alone. He had Sonic by his side, no matter what.
Staring into Sonic's eyes Shadow took a moment but hesitantly nods, agreeing. "Okay...For once I will help you protect the Earth.. lets do this Hedgehog - together."
The blue hedgehog smiled, happy that his friend was finally opening up to him.
"Together.." Sonic got closer and closer to Shadow, mere inches between their faces.
Sonic getting closer to him took Shadow aback with a blush but something like natural instincts made him lean closer then... he without thought the darker one kissed the blue hero.
Sonic was completely taken aback by Shadow's kiss. He has not expected the other to do that.. Sonic had actually imagined it going the opposite way. Was he complaining, though? Not at all.
The blue hedgehog kissed the other back, the two staying in silence for a while before Sonic finally broke the kiss. "Wow..." was all he could say.
